Overview

Operations Improvement (OI) Engineers are responsible for optimizing scheduling automation, real‑time manufacturing decision‑support reporting and analysis, and line management analytics such as output, cycle time, and cost.

Responsibilities
  • Complete all required safety training and conduct all work in accordance with Micron and TD safety policies.
  • Follow all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Report all safety‑related concerns or problems immediately to the appropriate individual such as the Emergency Response Team or supervision.
  • Perform audits and submit good catches on safety issues.
  • Partner with management to provide data analysis, advanced production web reports, and develop applications to improve production metrics.
  • Understand and properly utilize area technical language.
  • Create and deliver effective presentations.
  • Lead interdepartmental meetings for simple to complex issues and projects.
  • Mentor others and clearly articulate complex ideas and issues to a broad audience.
  • Establish trusting relationships across local and global partner groups.
  • Participate in or lead global alignment meetings.
  • Drive improvement solutions that meet the needs of customers.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of how process changes in one activity affect the function of other groups.
  • Partner with Operations Development Engineering teams to address OI cases.
  • Leverage and share global OI best known methods (BKMs).
  • Support 24/7 OI systems when on call.
  • Design and coordinate projects with several different departments.
  • Identify, innovate, design, and lead improvement efforts or special projects related to cycle time reduction, continuous improvement projects, and worldwide projects.
  • Identify project requirements and plan tasks to meet needed dates.
  • Understand Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) layout and analyze congestion and slow delivery times.
  • Provide metrics and reporting that drive improvements in AMHS operation efficiency and delivery times.
  • Optimize tool‑to‑tool delivery times and ensure on‑time delivery.
  • Deliver pre‑ and post‑metrics for OI enhancements and changes.
  • Follow the OI testing cycle (DEV/BETA/PROD) for new software releases to ensure quality implementation.
  • Apply industrial engineering concepts to line management, scheduling, and production planning.
  • Create and use analytical tools and data, data pipelines/ETL, visualizations, and applications to drive decisions.
  • Identify optimization opportunities for the fab and implement innovative solutions.
  • Automate fab processes to reduce variability and eliminate waste.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve scheduling and business rules.
Position Requirements
  1. Master’s degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Engineering or related field.
  2. Manufacturing science, including scheduling, inventory management, and capacity planning.
  3. Database management methods and techniques including SQL.
  4. Scripting, programming and visualization tools, including Python, Java, Splunk, Tableau, Matlab, C#, Perl, and RStudio.
  5. Snowflake, Visual Studio, GIT, and Azure DevOps.
  6. Application of data visualization, data collection, data analytics warehousing systems, and data cleansing.
  7. Robotic Process Automation (UiPath and Microsoft Power Automate).
  8. Big Data & data engineering (MongoDB, Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib).
