General Dynamics - Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine, seeks a Sr. Engineer, Fleet Services to ensure safety, quality and performance standards while coordinating with stakeholders to meet milestones.

The Onboard/Onsite Fleet Service Engineer plans, coordinates, and supervises the correction of shipboard warranty issues, incomplete new construction, and government tasked emergent repairs in Hull, Mechanical and Electrical.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a technical or business discipline and/or BIW Apprentice Graduate, or equivalent experience in Shipbuilding, Manufacturing, or Testing.
• Undergraduate degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Electrical Engineering preferred.
• 5+ years of collective experience in Marine Engineering, USN or Commercial Fleet Lifecycle Support in the areas of maintenance and repair.

Job description

We offer a competitive salary for this role, with an expected range of $88,100 to $111,600. The final offer will depend on your experience, skills, and overall qualifications. • Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Sr. Engineer, Fleet Services ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.
• As the Onboard/Onsite Fleet Service Engineer responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the correction of shipboard warranty, incomplete new construction, and Government tasked emergent repairs in the areas of Hull, Mechanical and Electrical.
• Serve as onboard/onsite Fleet Service representative for extended periods of time resolving daily shipboard issues and/or supervising the execution of a project/work package. When not on the ship provide office support for the onboard rider.
• Be on-call 24 hours/day, 365 days/year and prepared to travel on short notice anywhere in the world providing “quick response” customer service.

Unique/Additional Requirements

• Secret Security Clearance.
• Strong computer, oral, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team are required.
• Offsite travel can approach 4 months or more on average in a one-year period.
• Must be able to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet ship’s operational schedule demands.
• Maintain a valid Passport.
• At a minimum, the applicant should possess an associate’s degree in a technical or business discipline and/or be a BIW Apprentice Graduate, or have equivalent experience in Shipbuilding, Manufacturing, or Testing.
• An undergraduate degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline is preferred.
• Sr. Fleet Service Engineer must have 5+ years of collective experience in Marine Engineering, USN or Commercial Fleet Lifecycle Support in the areas of maintenance and repair.
• In-depth knowledge of DDG-51 Class Destroyers, along with experience gained in a Navy waterfront maintenance environment, will factor in the selection process.
• Strong computer, oral, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team are required.
• Offsite travel can approach 4 months or more, on average, in a one-year period.
• Must be able to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet ship’s operational schedule demands.

This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance.
