Job summary

American Airlines is seeking a skilled SAP/Technical Engineer to design, implement, and optimize large-scale financial/ERP solutions. You will partner with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, secure systems that support airline operations and financial processes.

The role emphasizes hands-on configuration, documentation, and mentorship of junior engineers, with a focus on reliability, performance, and continuous improvement within the IT ecosystem of a leading airline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years designing and implementing large-scale production solutions.

Responsibilities

• Write, test, and document code, scripts, and processes per standards.
• Solve technical problems and build impactful components/libraries.
• Mentor junior engineers in technical skills and code quality.
• Perform root cause analysis and lead corrective actions.
• Design integrated systems enabling cross-functional value delivery at scale.
• Manage technical debt and drive reduction initiatives.
• Anticipate scaling, latency, and durability challenges; guide teams.
• Collaborate with security teams to bake secure practices in.
• Assess risks and implement prevention strategies.

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
• 3+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale solutions in production environments

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
• Airline Industry experience
