Job summary

American Airlines is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, develop, and deploy high-quality software at our Fort Worth HQ. You will join a diverse team focused on delivering reliable digital products, mentoring peers, and guiding architecture across domains.

You will work on scalable systems, tackle performance and security challenges, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to ship value fast. This role emphasizes delivering robust solutions within an airline IT landscape.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
  • 3+ years in designing and delivering large-scale production systems.
  • Master's degree preferred; airline industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Write, test, and document code, scripts, and processes per standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and address systemic issues with action plans.
  • Design integrated systems enabling cross-functional teams to scale.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement secure development practices.
  • Assess risks, optimize performance, and reduce technical debt.
  • Lead prototype development and incorporate new technologies into architecture.

  • Write, test, and document code, scripts, and processes following organizational standards
  • Solve technical problems and build impactful components/libraries

  • Conduct root cause analysis to address systemic issues and lead action plans
  • Design integrated systems that enable cross-functional teams to deliver value at scale, speed, and reliability
  • Manage technical debt and drive initiatives to eliminate it
  • Anticipate scaling, latency, and durability challenges, guiding teams in mitigation
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement secure practices early in development
  • Assess technical risks and implement prevention strategies
  • Evaluate squad delivery practices, recommend improvements, and drive change
  • Identify and eliminate duplication of effort, promoting reuse across teams
  • Measure team performance and support individual development
  • Explore emerging technologies, lead prototype development, and incorporate into architectural solutions

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 3+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale solutions in production environments

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • Airline Industry experience

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Proficiency with the following technologies:
    • Dynamics 365 Sales & Service – Deep understanding of core entities, customizations, JavaScript, Business Rules, Plugins and workflow
    • Power Platform – Hands‑on experience with Power Automate (flows), Power Apps (Model-Driven & Canvas), Power Pages.
    • JavaScript & C# Development – Strong experience in client-side scripting, plugins, and custom business logic.
    • Azure Services – Proficiency in Azure Function Apps, Azure SQL Database, App Services, Azure Storage, Logic Apps and Service Bus for integrations.
    • Dataverse (Common Data Service) – Experience in customizing and working with Dataverse.
    • API & Integration Knowledge – Familiarity with Dataverse Web API, REST, OData, Power Automate Connectors and SOAP services.
    • Security & Authentication – Dynamics 365 Security Roles, Web Roles, Business Unit, Teams & Hierarchy Based Security, Understanding of OAuth, Azure AD, and role-based security models.
    • Performance Optimization – Experience in troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing Dynamics 365 applications.
    • Power BI - Experience in integrating Power BI with Dynamics and create reports and visuals
    • Front End Technologies: Angular/React
    • Deployment Technologies: Kubernetes, Docker
    • Source Control: GitHub, Azure DevOps
    • CICD: GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps
    • Data management: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis
