About This Job

As a Senior DataOps Engineer, you will collaborate with Data Engineering, Master Data Management, Data Governance, and other Data & AI teams to ensure the reliability and availability of Data & Analytics platforms, pipelines, and business processes. You will develop tools to monitor and maintain the scalability and performance of cloud-based environments and operational processes. Your expertise in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), automation, cloud technologies, and continuous integration of AI capabilities will help streamline operations and enable faster, more reliable data-driven solutions. Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Cloud Services, DevOps, CI/CD, Python, Shell scripting, and fundamentals in platforms like Enterprise Data Lake/Warehouse (EDL/EDW) and Azure Data Factory is essential.

Responsibilities

  1. Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based data pipelines and infrastructure solutions.
  2. Streamline development and operational processes via CI/CD, automation, and SRE principles.
  3. Utilize AI/ML tools to automate data operations, improve efficiency, and enhance pipeline reliability and scalability.
  4. Collaborate with teams to leverage AI/ML for process improvements and operational decision-making.
  5. Define and maintain procedures for data quality, availability, and reliability.
  6. Automate manual tasks and track SLAs, SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
  7. Troubleshoot issues related to cloud infrastructure, application performance, and data pipelines.
  8. Identify and implement process improvements, automate manual processes, and optimize data delivery.
  9. Stay current with DataOps best practices and emerging technologies.
  10. Drive self-service capabilities and automation initiatives.
  11. Perform root cause analysis for production issues and recommend improvements.
  12. Resolve system outages and performance issues efficiently and effectively.
  13. Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in cloud technologies, automation, and data operations.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a DataOps Engineer.
  • 3+ years with reporting and visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • 3+ years in Enterprise Data Lake/Warehouse (EDL/EDW) and Azure services.
  • 5+ years designing and supporting scalable enterprise services.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Bicep, PowerShell.
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, Agile/Scrum practices.
  • Knowledge of cloud cost management and savings strategies.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and related Azure services.
  • Certifications like Snowflake SnowPro, Azure, Databricks.
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture, Machine Learning, ETL/ELT, CDC, API design, and stream data integration.

Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the US; sponsorship not available.

Work Location & Arrangement: Hybrid role based in Dallas, TX or Richmond, VA.
