The role collaborates with SMEs to update procedures, prepare RSAWs and evidence for audits, and participate in CEO Certification and compliance monitoring activities. Travel within the service territory and occasional after-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 8+ years of engineering work experience and at least 3 years in regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards, NPCC Directories and/or utility regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to develop procedures and internal controls for compliance.
  • Willingness to travel within service territory and occasional non-business hours for emergencies.

Overview

The Senior Engineer - Compliance will serve as a technical expert and compliance contact for the Electrical Engineering group to ensure timely and complete compliance reporting. Will be responsible for coordinating and working collaboratively with various subject matter experts to ensure engineering procedures/processes comply with NERC and other regulatory standards. The Senior Engineer Compliance (2H) will participate in meetings, working groups, and other compliance related functions to identify upcoming changes to NERC standards that may affect current engineering procedures or practices. Will be responsible for completing NERC Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets, coordinating evidence for internal/external assessments such as audits, certifications, and spot-check.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical expert and compliance contact for Engineering and ensure timely and complete compliance reporting. Responsible for working collaboratively with various subject matter experts (SMEs) to support procedure and process development for NERC standards.
  • Responsible for document development, including NERC Reliability Standards Audit Worksheets (RSAWs), Electric Engineering department Procedures, creating internal controls in the Archer Tracking System and providing evidence for internal assessments and external engagements such as audits, self-certifications and spot-checks.
  • Participates in the annual CEO Certification program for the Electrical Engineering department. Develops/updates procedure(s), internal controls and/or evidence as necessary for CEO Certification.
  • Provides input on scoping for Compliance Monitoring Engagements of the applicable NERC standards and requirements.
  • Coordinates with Compliance Manager and compliance staff for all standards comments, questionnaires and reporting due dates. Coordinates preparation and participates in Self Certifications, Self-Reports, Spot Checks, Periodic Data Submittals, onsite and off-site audits.
  • Keeps informed of the industry and keeps up-to-date with the latest developments in the Compliance and Regulatory Standards, including participating in NPCC and RF conferences as required.
  • Participate in the Company's Emergency Response Plan through a designated storm assignment.
  • Attends departmental meetings and participates on various teams and committees as required. Performs other related Company assignments as required.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing Strategic Engineering initiatives to support employee development, retention, and engagement. This includes managing the intern program, coordinating team events, and implementing processes and programs to leverage technology within the engineering group.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 8 years of overall engineering work experience with a minimum 3 years of experience in regulatory compliance.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards, NPCC Directories and/or utility regulatory compliance, required.
  • Must possess a good understanding of electrical theory, required.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, required.
  • Must demonstrate a high energy level and promote a positive work ethic in support of our Company Values, especially the Way We Work, required.
  • Polished and effective presentation skills to deliver information, training, and status to varying audiences, required.
  • Understanding of system operations and electric system work practices, preferred.

  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
