Job summary

FedEx Group in Memphis, TN is seeking a results-oriented engineer to evaluate and implement manpower and systems projects aimed at reducing operating expenses, increasing revenues, and enhancing customer service.

You will partner with field management, develop plans for efficient package volume distribution, and monitor field and back-office activities while contributing to five-year planning and cost justifications.

Job description

Evaluating and implementing manpower and systems projects to reduce operating expenses, increase revenues, and enhance customer service.

Essential Functions
  • Collaborate with field management to achieve objectives
  • Consult with management on critical areas such as field operations and facility planning
  • Implementing and monitoring field and back-office activities
  • Developing plans for efficient package volume distribution through computerized sort systems
  • Establishing job methods for hourly and clerical functions
  • Development of the operational budget based on recommendations for cost savings in facilities and equipment
  • Participate in studies aimed at implementing innovative engineering concepts into operations, resulting in product benefits for the company and its customers
  • Serve as a communication link between operations and corporate departments, providing technical expertise related to facility planning, including five-year planning, equipment, layout, GSE planning, and cost justifications
  • Serve on special corporate study teams to investigate and implement projects related to productivity and performance
  • Monitor, analyze, and recommend ways to improve productivity, service, and cost performance in all areas of operations in collaboration with management
  • Providing technical training to personnel through workshops, seminars, and one-on-one sessions in various areas such as operations, manning, contingency planning, productivity, and cost-effectiveness
  • Prepare, analyze, and monitor short- and long-range plans for each director’s responsibility, offering analysis regarding expansion, new products, procedures, GSE, sort equipment, and manpower needs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years of relevant experience.

The desired location for this position would be Memphis, TN. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx location five days a week.
