Job summary

Robert Bosch Group in Plymouth, MI is seeking an experienced Sr EMC Engineer to lead electromagnetic compatibility activities across the product lifecycle. You will serve as primary EMC contact for OEMs, interpret specifications, and develop compliance matrices with customer agreement.

You will coordinate DV/PV test campaigns, review results, investigate deviations, and guide EMC hardware design. Fluency in English is required; German is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, or Automotive).
• 5+ years of professional experience in EMC testing within electronics engineering, especially automotive or aerospace.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret technical specifications and compliance documentation.
• Ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations in writing.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary EMC contact for OEM technical communications and requirements management.
• Analyze and interpret legal and OEM EMC specification documents to ensure compliance.
• Develop and maintain EMC Compliance Matrices documenting requirements and obtain customer agreement.
• Create EMC test specifications for DV and PV phases per applicable requirements.
• Plan and coordinate EMC DV test campaigns with internal teams.
• Plan and coordinate EMC PV test campaigns with certified and OEM-recognized test laboratories.
• Review and evaluate EMC test reports for accuracy and compliance.
• Communicate EMC test results and findings to customers and stakeholders.
• Conduct root cause analysis for EMC deviations and suggest corrective actions.
• Communicate deviations and improvement measures to ECU development teams.
• Provide guidance on EMC-compatible electrical hardware design.
• Support the development of EMC-compliant circuit design, layout, and electromechanical product design.

Job Description

The Sr EMC Engineer is responsible for managing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) activities throughout the product development lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:

• Serve as primary EMC contact for OEM technical communications and requirements management
• Analyze and interpret legal and OEM EMC specification documents to ensure compliance
• Develop and maintain EMC Compliance Matrices that document all requirements and obtain customer agreement
• Create EMC test specifications for Design Validation (DV) and Product Validation (PV) phases in accordance with applicable legal and OEM requirements
• Plan and coordinate EMC Design Validation (DV) test campaigns with internal teams
• Plan and coordinate EMC Product Validation (PV) test campaigns with certified and OEM-recognized test laboratories
• Review and evaluate EMC test reports for accuracy and compliance
• Communicate EMC test results and findings to customers and stakeholders
• Conduct root cause analysis for EMC deviations and recommend corrective actions
• Communicate EMC deviations and improvement measures to ECU development and integration teams
• Provide technical guidance on EMC-compatible electrical hardware system design
• Implement and verify effectiveness of EMC improvement measuresSupport the development of EMC-compliant circuit design, layout, and electromechanical product design

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, or Automotive)
• 5 or more years of professional experience in EMC testing within the electronics engineering field, specifically in automotive or aerospace industries
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook software
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret technical specifications and compliance documentation
• Ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations in writing

Preferred:

• Experience with schematic design, layout, and RF theory
• Knowledge of electrical hardware development, specifically circuit design and validation
• Experience with software packages such as CANalyzer, CANape, and INCA
• Proficiency with statistical analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE) analysis, and product reliability analysis
• Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams and external laboratories
• Fluency in English and German
