About This Role

We are looking for a systematic, detail‑oriented, proactive Embedded Software Test Engineer with an interest in medical devices and a drive to challenge them. In this role you will design and execute tests for our Class II cardiac monitoring devices and supporting software infrastructure, advocating for quality from both patient and internal customer perspectives. The position is hybrid – located in Orange County, CA – and requires you to use hardware and electrical lab equipment from the office as needed.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Perform manual system‑level, functional, and acceptance testing on embedded systems software (C) and supporting desktop applications (C#/.NET).
  • Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and other teams to define and implement testing strategies.
  • Develop written verification test protocols and document/report test results in line with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Review requirements and design documentation to ensure technical accuracy, testability, and uphold quality advocacy throughout development.
  • Analyze field failures, establish repeatability, work with the development team on root‑cause resolution, and verify corrections before release.
What We Want to See
  • At least 5 years of software quality assurance experience.
  • At least 3–4 years testing desktop tools and/or embedded systems/hardware.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment (power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, etc.) and troubleshooting electrical and firmware issues on circuits/hardware.
  • Strong understanding of QA principles and processes, particularly within regulated environments (e.g., FAA, SEC, DoD, Title 21 CFR Part 11).
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and investigative skills.
  • Self‑motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively, and able to lead testing efforts for a project.
  • Effective written communication skills for presenting methods and observations.
Ways to Stand Out
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments.
  • Experience in firmware or software development.
  • Programming experience in Python, C/C++, .NET/C#, MySQL.
  • Knowledge of Test‑Driven Development and unit testing tools (e.g., JUnit).
Location

Orange County, CA – Hybrid (requires in‑office presence for hardware and lab use).

Estimated Pay Range

$115,000.00 – $149,000.00
