Position Summary:

The Sr. Electronic Controls Technician (E-Tech), Ammo, specializes in troubleshooting and maintaining automation equipment used in high-volume manufacturing, including loading modules, presses, wash and annealing systems, conveyors, cameras, sensors, labeling systems, scales, HMI systems, and control cabinets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to safety procedures.
  • Support and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, motors, servo and frequency drives, robotics, sensors, and electrical systems with minimal supervision.
  • Recommend and implement control system improvements to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Mentor junior technicians and facilitate effective communication among team members and stakeholders.
  • Update or develop electrical schematics as needed.
  • Collaborate with mechanics to resolve electrical issues affecting equipment performance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects related to cost, quality, and efficiency.
  • Assist in managing critical spare parts inventory and preventive maintenance for electronic systems.
  • Maintain positive relationships with operations and support teams.
  • Communicate technical issues to leadership, escalating when necessary to minimize downtime.
  • Participate in maintaining 5S standards and comply with safety and ISO procedures.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality; flexibility to work in other areas as needed.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 7-10 years of relevant technical experience, including 2+ years in control systems troubleshooting and programming, 3+ years working with HMIs and PLCs, and 5+ years troubleshooting electrical/electronic industrial equipment.
  • Knowledge of electronic control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, drives, electrical schematics, and wiring conventions.
  • Experience supporting robotics and automation, especially in ammunition or explosive-rated environments.
  • Familiarity with network controls (e.g., Ignition), AB & SIEMENS PLCs, and GD&T standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions:
  • Primarily standing (over 90%), with exposure to a manufacturing environment.
  • Shift options include 8, 10, and 12 hours.
  • Physical requirements include frequent lifting up to 40 pounds, reaching, bending, kneeling, and repetitive motions.
  • Use of PPE as required and adherence to EH&S standards.
