Job summary

SPG Meyers in Rice Lake, WI is seeking an experienced electrical estimator to lead our estimating efforts for commercial and industrial projects. This hands-on, management-level role involves pricing strategies, bid reviews, and input into which opportunities we pursue.

You will take plans from start to final price, work with ownership, operations, vendors, and field leaders, and push for accurate, competitive bids. Hybrid work with occasional travel to Rice Lake offered.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years hands-on commercial or industrial electrical estimating experience.
• Take bids from plans and specifications through complete, defensible pricing.
• Experience with digital takeoffs and estimating software (Bluebeam, McCormick, HeavyBid).
• Clear communication with suppliers, subcontractors, field teams, and leadership.

Job description

We are hiring an experienced electrical estimator to lead our estimating work for commercial and industrial projects. This is a hands-on, management-level role with direct input into which opportunities we pursue, how we price them, and the quality of the bids we submit. You’ll work closely with ownership, operations, vendors, and field leaders. The position does not currently supervise a team.

What you’ll do

• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to identify scope, risks, and opportunities.
• Personally prepare electrical takeoffs and build estimates using labor, material, equipment, vendor, and subcontractor pricing.
• Obtain and negotiate prebid pricing; identify missing scope and resolve questions before submission.
• Prepare proposals, lead bid reviews, and make recommendations on pricing and bid strategy.
• Support project handoffs, change order pricing, and the improvement of estimating tools and processes.

What we’re looking for

• At least 5 years of hands-on commercial or industrial electrical estimating experience.
• The ability to take an electrical bid from plans and specifications through a complete, defensible price.
• Strong knowledge of electrical installation methods and applicable NEC/NFPA requirements.
• Experience with digital takeoffs and estimating software; Bluebeam, McCormick, or HeavyBid experience is helpful.
• Clear communication with suppliers, subcontractors, field teams, and leadership.
• Project management experience is useful, but this role requires direct electrical estimating experience.

Location and benefits

The role is based in Rice Lake, WI. A hybrid schedule with regular visits to Rice Lake may be available for the right candidate; relocation is also open for discussion.
