Job summary

AV is seeking electrical engineers at all levels to join a dynamic team designing space-qualified electronics for laser communications, space electronics, and sensors. The role encompasses high-speed digital design, analog circuit analysis, and collaboration across development and manufacturing to meet strict program requirements.

Required qualifications include advanced degrees with substantial experience in high-speed electronics and aptitude for circuit design, analysis, and verification

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering with 8 years’ experience or a bachelor’s degree with minimum 10 years of experience in design, analysis, integration, and test of custom electronics.
• Experience designing high speed digital electronics including ADCs, DACs, FPGAs, processors, and communications drivers.
• Experience designing and analyzing analog circuits including low-noise signal conditioning and power amplifiers.
• Proficiency in electrical design software and simulation tools (Altium, SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, HyperLynx, MS Office).
• Ability to conduct circuit analysis and simulation to optimize performance and reliability.
• Must be a US citizen.

Responsibilities

• Design custom high speed digital electronics including ADCs, DACs, FPGAs, processors, and communications drivers.
• Design and analyze analog circuits including low-noise signal conditioning and power amplifiers.
• Provide engineering expertise to product development and R&D efforts.
• Collaborate with team to develop, review, and refine designs to meet program needs within time and budget constraints.
• Support electronics manufacturing and testing within a broad program.
• Other duties as assigned.

The selected candidates will join a dynamic team working to put Great Systems on Orbit with capabilities to perform leading edge tasks in laser communications, space electronics and sensors.

Responsibilities

• Design custom high speed digital electronics including the use of ADCs, DACs, FPGAs, processors, and communications drivers.
• Design, and conduct analysis of analog circuits including low‑noise signal conditioning and power amplifiers.
• Provide expertise to both product development and R&D efforts.
• Collaborate with peers, leads, and managers to develop, review, and refine designs and analyses to meet program technical needs within defined time and budget constraints.
• Work within a broad‑disciplined program team providing expertise in support of electronics manufacturing and testing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

• Understanding of space qualification standards and requirements.
• Experience designing custom electronics for space products.
• Experience designing to a defined requirements set.
• Experience with analysis necessary for high reliability space electronics hardware (Electrical stress analysis, worst case circuit analysis and reliability analysis).
• Experience and understanding of PCB manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Experience producing board layouts is a plus.
• Understanding of relevant IPC standards needed for electrical design and fabrication.
• Experience leading sub‑assemblies or circuit card designs with small teams of two or three.
• Experience developing and conducting testing of complex electronic sub‑assemblies along with design of special test equipment (STE).
• Experience deriving sub‑assembly requirements from higher‑level, flowed down, system requirements and defining test methodologies.
• Experience developing design and verification documentation (Interface Control Document/Drawings (ICD), Design Description Document (DDD), Test Plan, Test Procedures, Test Reports, etc.).
• Written and verbal communication skills necessary to present designs to internal and external stakeholders.
• Able to complete assigned work within a defined timeline and budget.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.

Physical Demands

• Ability to work in an office and production environment (Constant).
• Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent).
