Job summary

AeroVironment in Albuquerque, NM is seeking electrical engineers at all levels to join a team delivering advanced space hardware for GEO, MEO, LEO and cislunar missions. You will work on leading edge tasks in laser communications, space electronics and sensors.

Requirements include a Master’s in EE with 5+ years (or a BSEE with 8+ years), strong circuit design and analytical skills, and experience with Altium, SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, HyperLynx and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience or a Bachelor’s with 8+ years of experience.
  • Experience in design, analysis, integration and test of custom electronics.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software and simulation tools (Altium, SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, HyperLynx, MS Office).
  • Ability to conduct circuit analysis and simulation to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Understanding of space qualification standards and requirements.
  • Experience designing custom electronics for space products.
  • Experience with PCB layouts and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design custom high speed digital electronics including ADCs, DACs, FPGAs, processors and communications drivers.
  • Design and analyze analog circuits including low-noise signal conditioning and power amplifiers.
  • Collaborate with peers to meet program technical needs within time and budget constraints.
  • Support electronics manufacturing and test within a broad program team.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Responsibilities
  • Design custom high speed digital electronics including the use of ADCs, DACs, FPGAs, processors, and communications drivers.
  • Design, and conduct analysis of, analog circuits including low-noise signal conditioning and power amplifiers. Provide expertise to both product development and R&D efforts.
  • Collaborate with peers, leads, and managers to develop, review, and refine designs and analyses to meet program technical needs within defined time and budget constraints.
  • Work within a broad-disciplined program team providing expertise in support of electronics manufacturing and test.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering with 5 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with a minimum of 8 years of experience can be considered instead of a master’s degree.
  • Experience in design, analysis, integration, and test of custom electronics
  • Proficiency in electrical design software and simulation tools (such as Altium, SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, HyperLynx, and MS Office).
  • Ability to conduct circuit analysis and simulation to optimize performance and reliability.
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
  • Understanding of space qualification standards and requirements.
  • Experience designing custom electronics for space products.
  • Experience designing to a defined requirements.
  • Experience with analysis necessary for high reliability space electronics hardware (Electrical stress analysis, worst case circuit analysis, and reliability analysis).
  • Experience producing PCB layouts
  • Experience and understanding of PCB manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Understanding of relevant IPC standards needed for electrical design and fabrication.
  • Experience developing and conducting testing of complex electronic sub-assemblies along with design of special test equipment (STE).
  • Experience deriving sub-assembly requirements from higher-level, flowed down, system requirements and defining test methodologies.
  • Experience developing design & verification documentation (Interface Control Document/Drawings (ICD), Design Description Document (DDD), Test Plan, Test Procedures, Test Reports, etc.).
  • Written and verbal communication skills necessary to present designs to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to complete assigned work within a defined timeline and budget.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.

  • Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment (Constant)
  • Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)

The Salary Range For This Role Is

$100,500 - $153,250
