Job description

Mercury Electronics is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with working knowledge of electrical and control systems, including electrical power and distribution systems and equipment. The candidate will collaborate with Engineers and Production team members to develop and maintain production documents and processes. The role involves working with engineering and production support teams, as well as with customers to implement new designs and design changes.

Under the general direction of the Engineering Manager, the Sr. Electrical Engineer will provide manufacturing and sales engineering support in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Analyzing customer designs for manufacturability
  2. Collaborating with sales, engineering, and production to develop harness and electrical panel designs to customer specifications
  3. Providing documentation support by generating manufacturing procedures and reviewing supplemental drawings, BOMs, and wire charts
  4. Managing projects, including planning and coordinating with sales and production to develop new products and establish resources for production startup
  5. Analyzing current processes and implementing improvements
  6. Researching components and specifying items required for customer needs
  7. Supporting sales and production for existing products

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Excellent organization and customer service skills
  2. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  3. Effective communication of technical data, both written and verbal
  4. Project management skills, including driving deliverables, coordinating tasks, and attention to detail
  5. Core knowledge of electrical system design practices, including layout, component/connector selection, wire/cable routing, and manufacturing techniques
  6. Ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams and schematics
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Preferred experience includes:

  1. Experience with CAD tools such as AutoCAD or Creo/ProEngineer
  2. Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards for soldering, splicing, terminating, and troubleshooting electrical systems
  3. At least 2 years of electrical harness design/development experience
  4. Experience with electrical system design tools like HarnWare, AutoCAD Electrical, Creo Schematics, Zuken E3 Harness, VeSys Design, etc.
  5. 3D Modeling skills
  6. Knowledge of military standards and contract manufacturing processes
  7. PCB inspection or troubleshooting experience

Occasional travel may be required.

Pay Range: $80K - $115K, depending on experience
