Job summary

Farnsworth Group seeks a Sr. Electrical Engineer - Building Systems in Phoenix, AZ. This client-facing role covers power, lighting, and fire alarm design across multiple projects. You will mentor staff, manage project delivery, and collaborate with other disciplines to achieve successful outcomes.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license with 7+ years of building-scale electrical design experience, and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office. Travel may be involved as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering required.
• 7+ years of professional experience in power and lighting design for buildings.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
• Prior management or mentoring of staff is required.
• Design experience for medium/large commercial and institutional facilities.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
• Experience with Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, or similar software.
• Strong team leadership and ability to manage projects from start to finish.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare power, lighting and fire alarm construction drawings and specifications.
• Perform construction administration including submittal reviews and revisions.
• Develop preliminary schematics through final designs with calculations and equipment layouts.
• Conduct code research and application as needed.
• Lead projects with multidisciplinary teams and coordinate staff.
• Provide mentoring and coordination of the production team.
• Support project budgets and schedules while ensuring quality results.
• Conduct quality control of electrical work performed by others.
• Contribute to business development via fee proposals and scoping walks.

Farnsworth Group is seeking aSr. Electrical Engineer - Building Systems in the below posting location. In this role, you will assume multi-project responsibilities for Power, Lighting and Fire Alarm design. It is client-facing, entrepreneurial and reports to a senior engineering manager or Principal, who will also provide mentoring and training opportunities to help you grow.

What You'll Do:

• Prepare accurate power, lighting and fire alarm construction drawings, including specifications.
• Perform construction administration, including submittal reviews and project revisions during construction.
• Prepare preliminary schematics through final designs for projects, including calculations, equipment selection, and layouts.
• Actively engage in and assume responsibility for code research and application.
• Interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors, leading projects to successful completion
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and coordination of the production staff.
• Assist in maintaining project design budgets and schedules while pursuing quality results.
• Perform quality control reviews of electrical work done by others.
• Assist in business development activities, including writing fee proposals and conducting project scoping walks with potential clients.
• Other duties, as assigned.

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering
• 7+ years of professional experience in power and lighting design for buildings.
• A Professional Engineering License (PE) is required.
• Prior management or mentoring of staff required.
• Design experience relative to medium/large commercial and institutional facilities
• Strong familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, or similar
• Strong and communicative team player in a multi-disciplinary environment, able to fully lead projects from start to finish.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to contribute to several projects simultaneously.
• Ability to travel.
