Job summary

Siemens Healthineers is seeking a professional to join the radiation oncology team in the United States. The role involves designing treatment plans, contouring structures, and generating verification images in collaboration with the radiation oncologist.

You will perform simulations and localization using CT, MRI, and PET, and participate in creating immobilization devices and beam-modifying equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in radiation dose planning and optimization.
• Proficiency in contouring normal structures and dose-limiting structures.
• Ability to generate reference images for portal verification and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design a treatment plan by computing beam geometry to deliver prescribed dose.
• Identify and contour structures using CT, MRI, and PET images.
• Create and transfer reference images and localization markers for portal verification and IGRT methods.
• Supervise and assist in simulations and tumor localization using imaging devices (CT, MRI, PET).
• Assist in planning and fabricating beam-modifying devices (filters, shields, wedges).
• Assist in producing molds, casts, and immobilization devices for treatment delivery.
• Communicate treatment plan details to radiation therapists, ensuring proper immobilization and field setup.

Serves as a member of the radiation oncology team with knowledge of the overall characteristics and clinical relevance of the radiation oncology treatment machines and equipment. Has the education and expertise to generate radiation dose distributions and dose calculations in collaboration with the radiation oncologist.

Responsibilities

• Design a treatment plan by means of computer and/or manual computation with optimal beam geometry to deliver a prescribed radiation dose and spare critical structures in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription.
• Identify and contour normal and dose-limiting structures by utilizing images from one or more data sets. Assumes proficiency in image registration with various image data sets to include CT, MRI and PET.
• Create and transfer reference images and localization markers for portal verification and treatment delivery to include DRRs, CBCTs and other IGRT methods, as specified.
• Supervise, perform, or assist in simulations and tumor localization using specified imaging devices including, but not limited to CT, MRI, and PET.
• Supervise, perform, or assist in the planning and implementation of the fabrication of compensation filters, custom shields, wedges, and other beam modifying devices.
• Supervise, perform, or assist in the planning and implementation of the production of molds, casts, and other immobilization devices.
• Communicate with the radiation therapist(s) and assume an advisory role in the implementation of the treatment plan including: the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangement, and other treatment or imaging parameters.
• Perform calculations for the accurate delivery of the prescribed dose, document all pertinent information in the patient record, and verify the mathematical accuracy of all calculations by an approved method.

The base pay range for this position is: $134,300 - $184,668 Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
