Job description

Reporting to the VP of the Sustain Management Office (SMO), the Senior Director of Workforce Productivity will work closely with senior operations leaders (COO, SVP, VP) and with department leaders (Executive Directors, Directors of Operations) across Mass General Brigham. They will establish and implement a new workforce productivity strategy across all MGB entities and labor groups. The Senior Director of Workforce Productivity will lead a team of Sr. Consultants to establish productivity benchmarks, set productivity targets, provide guidance on staffing management and process improvement strategies, and monitor progress towards goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development and lead the implementation of a new workforce productivity strategy across MGB entities and labor groups:
    • Implement a workforce productivity framework including benchmarking, target-setting, identifying improvement opportunities, and developing a monitoring system across MGB entities and labor groups.
    • Partner with operational leaders across the system, provide guidance on workforce productivity standards, tools and processes, and serve as a subject matter expert on workforce productivity.
    • Lead a team of Sr. Consultants who support the implementation of the framework, provide guidance on staffing management and process improvement strategies, and monitor progress towards targets.
    • In partnership with leadership, finance and analytics teams, develop a plan for implementing the framework across all MGB departments and functions. Monitor progress to the plan, raise risks and escalate as needed.
    • Collaborate with MGB Finance leaders to develop an approach for incorporating targets into annual budget planning and incorporating metrics into the position control process.
  • Lead change management efforts regarding workforce productivity across all MGB entities:
    • Identify key stakeholders across MGB entities and within MGB departments who will be impacted by this effort
    • Develop a stakeholder engagement strategy to manage large-scale system-wide change
    • Establish regular communication with stakeholders to create a network of shared resources and best practices.
    • Collaborate with the MGB Communications Team to develop and execute a communications plan specific to this work and ensure integration within the broader Sustain communications plan
    • Partner with HR Business Partners, Organizational Development/Org Readiness teams to ensure team structures and role descriptions are in place to prepare for change.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Management, Finance, or a related field required. A Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Management, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • 8-10 years of experience working as a system leader, consultant or project manager in large-scale change initiatives
  • Experience in workforce management within healthcare, including workforce analytics, staffing and scheduling, benchmarking and modeling, preferred
  • In depth knowledge of hospital operations both clinical and non-clinical
  • Proficient with time and attendance and scheduling applications
