Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, workforce development, rehabilitation, business, education, or public administration.
  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in workforce development or nonprofit operations.
  • Experience leading multi-site or geographically dispersed programs.
  • Experience with performance measurement, grants/contracts, and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis/reporting tools.

The Senior Director of Career Services provides statewide operational leadership for Goodwill Kentucky’s Career Services serving external participants. Reporting to the Vice President of Mission Strategy & Impact, this position translates organizational mission strategy into consistent, high-quality service delivery and measurable participant outcomes across assigned Opportunity Centers.

The Senior Director leads and develops Opportunity Center Directors, establishes statewide operating expectations and performance standards, drives accountability for center results, and ensures Career Services are responsive to participants, employers, funders, and communities. This position provides oversight of budgets, compliance, grants and contracts, program quality, and continuous improvement while strengthening employment pathways and regional partnerships that help participants overcome barriers, obtain employment, and advance toward self-sufficiency.

Essential Job Functions:

P rovides statewide operational leadership for assigned Opportunity Centers, translating organizational mission strategy into consistent Career Services expectations, operating plans, service standards, and measurable outcomes while allowing centers to respond to regional and community needs.

L eads, coaches, develops, and holds assigned Opportunity Center Directors accountable for center operations, people leadership, service delivery, financial performance, and participant outcomes. Establishes clear expectations and ensures timely action when performance does not meet established standards.

E stablishes and monitors Career Services goals and key performance measures, including individuals served, employment placements, wages, retention, credentials and training completion, barrier-removal outcomes, participant satisfaction, employer engagement, grant outcomes, and other organizational measures. Uses performance data to identify trends, improve services, allocate resources, and drive accountability.

E nsures consistent, high-quality, participant-centered Career Services across assigned Opportunity Centers. Evaluate programs, processes, and service delivery to identify gaps, improve effectiveness and efficiency, replicate successful practices, and implement operational improvements.

H olds Opportunity Center Directors accountable for developing strong regional relationships with employers, educational institutions, governmental agencies, nonprofit organizations, referral sources, funders, and other community partners that expand resources and opportunities for participants.

P artners with Retail leadership to strengthen employment pathways for Career Services participants, including opportunities for qualified participants to transition into Goodwill employment. Collaborate with Learning & Development to identify and develop learning resources, classes, curricula, and other development solutions for external Career Services participants.

D evelops and approves Career Services budgets and provides financial oversight across assigned Opportunity Centers. Holds Directors accountable for management of center budgets, staffing resources, expenditures, financial goals, and effective use of organizational and restricted funds.

E nsures assigned centers and programs comply with Goodwill policies, safety and ethical standards, grants and contracts, accreditation requirements, and applicable legal and regulatory standards. Provides oversight of grant-funded Career Services programs, required reporting, documentation, and corrective actions.

P a rtners with the West Louisville Opportunity Center and other mission-service leaders to align Career Services goals, performance measures, service standards, participant outcomes, and effective practices while maintaining the established organizational reporting structure.

M o dels Goodwill’s Core Values and builds a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and participant dignity. Communicates Career Services performance, needs, risks, and opportunities to the Vice President of Mission Strategy & Impact and represents Career Services internally and externally as assigned.

P erforms other duties as assigned.

Must have strong management and organizational experience with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage with purpose and vision. Must be highly motivated and a self-starter with a proven record of handling multiple projects and initiatives.

Must exhibit good judgement, ethics, values, and strong decision-making skills.

Must have reliable transportation to and from work, proof of insurance, a valid driver’s license in the state of residence, and an acceptable driving record.

Education/Specialized Knowledge Requirements:

B achelor’s degree in human services, workforce development, rehabilitation, business, education, public administration, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and demonstrated experience may be considered.

S even or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in workforce development, Career Services, human services, nonprofit operations, or a related field, including experience leading managers or other leaders.

D emonstrated experience leading multi-site or geographically dispersed programs or operations strongly preferred.

E xperience with performance measurement, program evaluation, grant or contract requirements, and continuous improvement preferred.

P roficiency with Microsoft Office and technology used for data analysis, performance management, reporting, and service delivery.

Physical and Work Condition Requirements:

T his position is primarily sedentary and involves sitting for extended periods; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and stooping; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, visual acuity, and use of computer equipment; and occasional lifting of up to fifteen (15) pounds.

F reqent travel to Opportunity Centers, Goodwill locations, community partners, and other locations throughout Kentucky is required .
