Job description

About Gap Inc.

At Gap Inc., we create culture as much as we create clothes. Our ambition is to become a high-performing house of iconic American brands that shape culture.

Our portfolio—Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta—each brings a distinct point of view to how we show up in the world and serve our customers.

Old Navy democratizes style with quality and value for all. Gap champions originality through essential pieces that celebrate individuality. Banana Republic is rooted in a spirit of discovery, creating modern pieces inspired by craftsmanship and travel. Athleta champions the Power of She through confidence, strength, and movement.

We’re driven by a shared purpose: to bridge gaps—between people, perspectives, and possibilities—to create a better world.

We’re building a team that performs at a high level—people who think boldly, take ownership, and turn ideas into impact. If you’re ready to learn fast and help shape what’s next, you’ll fit right in.

About The Role

The Senior Director, Global Benefits, Wellbeing and Mobility is responsible for setting and executing Gap Inc.’s global benefits strategy, ensuring programs are competitive, compliant, financially sustainable, and aligned with the company's talent strategy and business objectives. This leader oversees the strategy, design, governance, delivery, and continuous evolution of health and welfare, retirement, wellbeing, leave of absence, and global mobility programs that support a diverse global workforce. As a strategic member of the Total Rewards leadership team, the Senior Director partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, Legal, People Business Partners, executive leaders, and external partners to deliver an exceptional employee experience while strengthening operational excellence, simplifying processes, managing risk, and maximizing the value of the company’s investments in employee benefits. The role leads a high-performing team and serves as the enterprise subject matter expert on benefits strategy, governance, and market trends.

What you’ll do
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global benefits, wellbeing, and mobility strategy, ensuring programs support business priorities while attracting, engaging, and retaining top talent.
  • Lead the design, governance, and delivery of benefit programs that are competitive, compliant, financially responsible, and aligned with Gap’s culture and values.
  • Drive operational excellence by simplifying processes, modernizing service delivery, leveraging technology, and optimizing operating models to improve program effectiveness, scalability, and employee experience.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on benefits strategy, financial stewardship, workforce trends, regulatory risk, and investment priorities.
  • Lead benefits governance, fiduciary oversight, committee leadership, and regulatory compliance across all benefit programs.
  • Oversee annual benefits planning and open enrollment strategies to ensure effective employee experience and operational readiness.
  • Manage multimillion-dollar budgets and strategic vendor partnerships, driving accountability, service excellence, operational efficiency, and measurable business value.
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships across Human Resources, Finance, Legal, Payroll, People Operations, Procurement, and business leaders to implement enterprise initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Who you are
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in Benefits, Total Rewards, or Human Resources, including experience leading enterprise-wide strategy.
  • 5+ years leading managers and developing high-performing teams.
  • Deep expertise across health and welfare, retirement, wellbeing, leave management, global mobility, and benefits compliance.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing enterprise benefits strategies that improve employee experience, operational effectiveness, and business outcomes.
  • Experience leading large-scale organizational change, vendor strategy, and complex contract negotiations.
  • Strong business acumen with experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets and balancing employee experience with financial stewardship.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and build trusted partnerships across functions.
