Job summary

TAS Energy Inc. is seeking a Sr. Design Checker to verify designer drawings and models against project requirements, TAS, and industry standards. Role focuses on checking mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls designs for accuracy and compliance.

The candidate will review drawings to ensure proper BOMs, dimensions, callouts, and tolerances, and will participate in model reviews and process improvements within TAS.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls design experience relevant to manufacture of TAS products.
  • Hands-on experience in design and drafting using 3D modeling software.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience of SolidWorks, Inventor, Catia, or Pro-E.
  • Associates Degree in a technical discipline or 3D/CAD design is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs technical drawing reviews for compliance to design, maintenance, manufacture, installation, operating, safety, and clearance requirements
  • Reviews all designer drawings including layouts and section views ensuring accurate BOM’s, callouts, and dimensions
  • Reviews dimensions and ensures components are dimensioned adequately to minimize tolerance stack-ups
  • Performs non-technical drawing reviews for compliance to standards for borders, blocks, text, CAD standards, notes, call-outs, and view requirements to adequately depict the design intent
  • Verifies weld symbols and beam selections are appropriate for their service
  • Verifies voltages, wire sizes, and breaker sizes are appropriate for their service
  • Verifies equipment access, service, and egress are appropriate
  • Verifies value engineered alternatives are incorporated into design drawings
  • Develops, improves, and publishes department practices/standards
  • Consistently executes the design process per all department processes from inception to closure
  • Attends model reviews per department processes
  • Any other responsibility as assigned by TAS

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Sr. Design Checker will provide verification of designer drawings and models to project requirements, TAS, and industry standards.

JOB SKILLS:

  • Advanced knowledge as a designer/checker in package/plant designs and layouts with broad knowledge of technical applications, maintenance, operation, and clearance constraints of structural, mechanical, controls, and electrical equipment systems
  • Knowledgeable of codes typically applicable to TAS equipment including NEC, IEC, ASME, AISC, AWS, UMC, OSHA, and building codes etc.
  • A self-starter and proficient designer/checker, with experience in mechanical, electrical, structural, and controls systems

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • High school diploma

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 12+ years of mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls design experience relevant to manufacture of TAS products
  • Hands-on experience in design and drafting using 3D modeling software

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient knowledge and experience of SolidWorks, Inventor, Catia, or Pro-E
  • Experience in HVAC, piping design, or industrial plant design
  • Associates Degree in a technical discipline or 3D/CAD design is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
