Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The entry level Electrical Engineer will provide electrical engineering support for projects and proposals.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist with the design of the project electrical system including: one-line diagram, load list, cable schedule, wiring schematic, and compiling bill of materials for all the electrical systems and components.
  2. Assist with Design, Drafting including Redlines in 3D SolidWorks OR Revit Environment.
  3. Provide assistance on interfacing with other departments including Field Service/Production/PM Groups to document and respond to queries with oversight from Senior Electrical Engineers and Engineering Manager.
  4. Assist sales and application engineering team for preliminary (budgetary) design and fine-tune the electrical system to meet customer needs.
  5. Assist with sizing, selection, and purchase assistance: switchgear, starters, variable speed drives, and MCCs, conduit and conductors, transformers, panelboards, and electrical commodities.
  6. Assist with qualifying and selecting third party vendors.
  7. Review customer specifications and make recommendations for proposals and project work.
  8. Interface with cross-functional teams- Project Engineers, Mechanical, Controls, Structural.
  9. Assist the Production Department in resolving issues during fabrication & assembly.
  10. Establish QA and QC requirements for production and may perform QC checks or oversee the same.
  11. Compile all electrical O&M information, transmit critical O&M information during the design phase of the project.
  12. Assist in the compilation of the final sets of IOM manuals.
  13. Any other responsibility as assigned by TAS.
JOB SKILLS:
  1. Must have ability to design/draft in at least ONE 3D platform SolidWorks OR Revit.
  2. Ability to design and draft on AutoCAD 2020 and above.
  3. Estimating and bid tabulation experience is highly desirable.
  4. Experience with analysis of compliance with NEC, IEC, NFPA, and other relevant codes.
  5. Ability to provide electrical calculations such as electrical loads, breaker sizing, cable tray fill, conduit fill, cable sizing, and some basic short-circuit analysis.
  6. Maintain knowledge about current trends in codes, equipment, and vendors.
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
  1. Successful completion of Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year engineering program is preferred.
  2. A genuine interest in engineering design related to Electrical Engineering.
  3. Strong interpersonal skills.
  4. Organized and a self-starter.
  5. Effective in both verbal and written communication.
  6. EIT Preferred.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Electrical design experience. Relevant education and hands-on lab work will be considered in lieu of experience.
  2. Experience in design and drafting using 3D modeling software to include CAD and Revit OR SolidWorks.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Internships within the consulting engineering industry preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with a computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
