The Sr. Design Assurance Engineer position involves working with innovative technology in our Imaging and Detection business. This role performs system and sub-system level validation and verification (V&V) activities, including software and hardware V&V for multiple products in both production and development environments to ensure compliance with Analogic and customer requirements. Responsibilities include V&V planning, testing, prioritization, analysis, and reporting to stakeholders. The role requires using Analogic’s defect tracking tools and other relevant tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define and implement standards, methods, and procedures for testing and evaluating security systems against design requirements.
- Develop reporting capabilities to communicate test progress, results, and relevant information to stakeholders and senior management.
- Manage defect tracking and resolution processes, ensuring consistency and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to support successful product launches to production.
- Supervise V&V engineers and team members to ensure products meet hardware, software, and system requirements.
- Utilize data collection, analysis, and creative testing approaches to develop and verify security and detection systems.
- Work closely with development engineers to understand design and stress-test system functionality, performance, and usability.
- Engage hands-on with prototype systems, utilizing problem-solving skills to identify defects and enhance product quality.
- Participate in the development process within an Agile environment, from design inputs to outputs.
- Potentially supervise a small team of engineers.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred.
- Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt or similar certifications preferred.
- Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is desirable.
Experience:
- At least five years of product development V&V experience, including two or more years working with large electromechanical systems.
- Experience managing or supervising a team is a plus.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of production and quality control methods, including CtQ, DfSS, SPC, APQP, FMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Copy Exact policies.
- Familiarity with performance metrics, SPC, Six Sigma, Lean, DfX, DOE, 8D, CAPA, and complaint resolution.
- Strong organizational, time management, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to motivate cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Agile methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Project management capabilities for handling multiple projects’ scope, schedule, and budget.
- Ability to lead and develop diverse teams to meet business goals.
- Experience with problem tracking tools like JIRA and requirements management tools like JAMA or DOORS.
- Experience with large-scale test automation and design engineering or manufacturing in the design field.
- Knowledge of CT or related imaging modalities is advantageous.
