Job summary

OEConnection LLC is modernizing its database platform to AWS, driving migrations and cloud-native architecture. This senior role leads migrations, security, and performance improvements across our AWS database ecosystem.

You will work with engineering, DevOps, security, and cloud teams to deliver scalable, resilient data services and guide modernization roadmaps for the organization's critical platforms.

• Proven experience leading enterprise database migrations and modernization initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead database migrations to AWS managed services (RDS SQL Server, Aurora PostgreSQL).
• Design cloud-native databases focused on scalability, availability, security, and performance.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code standards using Terraform; integrate provisioning into CI/CD.
• Execute migrations with AWS DMS and SCT.
• Establish monitoring, backups, DR, and governance using AWS tools.

About the Role

OEC is undergoing a multi-year cloud transformation, modernizing infrastructure and migrating hundreds of services to AWS. As a Senior Database Administrator, you will play a key role in shaping OEC’s future database platform by leading the evolution from legacy systems to scalable, secure, cloud-native solutions.

This senior, hands-on technical role will serve as a database engineering leader, driving AWS database strategy, migration efforts, architecture decisions, and operational excellence. You will partner with application engineering, DevOps, security, and cloud infrastructure teams to build a resilient AWS database ecosystem.

What You’ll Do

• Lead database migrations to AWS managed services, including Amazon RDS for SQL Server and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Design and implement cloud-native database architectures focused on scalability, availability, security, and performance.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code standards using Terraform and integrate database provisioning into CI/CD pipelines.
• Execute migrations using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).
• Establish database monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and operational standards using AWS-native tools.
• Drive incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner across engineering teams to define database strategy and modernization roadmaps.
• Mentor and elevate DBA team members through coaching and knowledge sharing.

What You’ll Bring

• 10+ years of database administration experience, including 3+ years managing AWS cloud database environments.
• Deep expertise with Amazon RDS for SQL Server, Aurora PostgreSQL, and AWS database services.
• Experience with AWS security, networking, monitoring, and governance practices.
• Strong Terraform experience supporting cloud infrastructure automation.
• Proven experience leading enterprise database migrations and modernization initiatives.
• Ability to influence technical decisions and communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
