As a Data Scientist in our Core organization, you will shape the future of products for users and businesses at Pinterest. Your expertise in quantitative modeling, experimentation, and algorithms will address complex engineering challenges. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across Product, Engineering, Design, Research, Analytics, Data Engineering, and more. Your work will influence product development and introduce scientific rigor into products serving hundreds of millions of users, creators, advertisers, and merchants worldwide.


What you'll do:


  • Develop best practices for instrumentation and experimentation; communicate these to engineering teams to support our mission of inspiring everyone to create a life they love.
  • Apply scientific methods and statistical techniques to product challenges, considering user behaviors.
  • Build and prototype analysis pipelines to generate insights at scale, understanding data structures and metrics, and advocating for product improvements.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, designers, and researchers to communicate insights and help shape future Pinterest experiences.

What we're looking for:


  • 5+ years of experience analyzing data in fast-paced, data-driven environments, with a proven ability to apply scientific methods to real-world, web-scale data problems.
  • Extensive experience with quantitative approaches such as Machine Learning, Statistical Modeling, Forecasting, or Econometrics.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn.
  • A rigorous approach to analysis, with attention to detail, skepticism, and a commitment to high-quality results.
  • Ability to manipulate large, complex datasets; proficiency in SQL and a scripting language like Python or R.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain insights to both technical and non-technical partners.
  • A team player capable of partnering with leadership to translate insights into actions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
