What We Do

First American Trust is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to help develop and grow our data engineering capabilities to enhance the Strategic Product Development Organization. You will help FA Trust’s Data Engineering team make real-time decisions based on datasets, facilitate analytics on existing products, and provide insights on potential new opportunities for growth. You will partner with subject matter experts to help us solve business problems with data. You will mentor data engineers and junior data engineers by providing guidance, advice, and support in various facets of data engineering.

What you’ll do:

  1. Build high-performing cloud data solutions to meet our analytical and BI reporting needs.
  2. Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain distributed, stable, secure, and scalable data engineering solutions and pipelines in support of data and analytics projects on the cloud, including integrating new sources of data into our central data warehouse, and moving data out to applications and other destinations.
  3. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, such as automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
  4. Build and enhance a shared data lake that powers decision-making and model building.
  5. Partner with teams across the business to understand their needs and develop end-to-end data solutions.
  6. Collaborate with analysts and data scientists to perform exploratory analysis and troubleshoot issues.
  7. Manage and model data using visualization tools to provide the company with a collaborative data analytics platform.
  8. Build tools and processes to help make the correct data accessible to the right people.
  9. Participate in active rotational support role for production during or after business hours supporting business continuity.
  10. Engage in collaboration and decision making with other engineers.
  11. Experience with or knowledge of Agile Software Development methodologies.

What you’ll bring:

  1. 5+ years of development experience with software languages such as Python or Scala, and SQL, with cloud experience (Azure preferred or AWS).
  2. Hands-on experience with data security and cloud security methodologies, including configuration and management to meet compliance and security requirements.
  3. Experience creating and maintaining data-intensive distributed solutions involving data warehouse, data lake, and data analytics in a cloud environment.
  4. Knowledge of modern Data Analytics architectures, including data warehouses and data lakes, designed and engineered in the cloud.
  5. Proven experience with Event Streaming Platforms and data pipeline orchestration tools like Apache Kafka, Fivetran, Apache Airflow, or similar.
  6. Experience with data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Spark, HIVE, Hadoop, Cloudera, or RedShift.
  7. Experience developing in containerized environments like Docker, Rancher, or Kubernetes is preferred.
Data Modeling
  1. Design schemas and data pipelines for ETL processes from various sources into data warehouses or lakes.
  2. Create, maintain, and optimize database structures for efficient data storage and retrieval.
  3. Evaluate data trends and model solutions for current and future business needs.
  4. Implement data cleansing and oversee data quality to ensure accuracy.
  5. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the cloud-based enterprise data warehouse architecture.

The pay range for this role is $126,100.00 - $168,150.00

This range is an estimate of the base pay at the time of posting. Actual pay may vary based on experience, skills, and location.
