Responsibilities
Responsible for coordinating, monitoring and maintaining the Credentialing and Reappointment processes of the Centralized Credentialing Organization. Facilitates and performs all aspects of credentialing, including appointment, reappointment, monitoring and privileging of the MHMH Medical Staff Members and Allied Health Professionals. Ensures compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies and models behavior exemplified in the Methodist Mission and Vision.
What you will do
- Facilitate and perform all aspects of credentialing for the CCO, including appointment and reappointment of Medical Staff and Allied Health Professionals in accordance with policies and procedures and regulatory guidelines (TJC, NCQA, AAAHC, state agencies). Prepare files for review.
- Administer and maintain comprehensive practitioner database files and other records, ensuring integrity and completeness of documentation.
- Execute the Medical Staff and Allied Health privileging process in accordance with MHMH Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, policies and procedures and regulatory guidelines. Prepare files for review.
- Provide oversight, administrative and technical support during the Medical Staff credentials committee facilitation in accordance with bylaws and procedures.
- Prepare confidential or routine memoranda, letters, reports, meeting minutes and other correspondence for the Department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education / Formal Training Requirements
- Required – Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Management.
- Preferred – Associate’s Degree.
- Preferred – Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration.
Work Experience Requirements
- Required – 3 to 5 years of credentialing experience.
- Preferred – Substitutions Allowed: In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, a high school diploma or equivalent with 8 to 9 years of credentialing experience.
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
- Required – Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist – National Association of Medical Staff Services.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Skill and proficiency in performing administrative responsibilities commensurate with requisite education and training.
- Significant working knowledge of state regulatory requirements and accreditation standards (TJC, NCQA, AAAHC, CMS).
- Ability to function with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with senior associates within the hospital and the community.
- Diplomacy and good judgment when interacting with staff and external partners.
- Proficient in Visual Cactus and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), mainframe systems, databases, and spreadsheets.
- Typing speed of 55 words per minute with minimum errors.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated deductive reasoning and use of reference materials.
- Independent assignment handling with analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service skills under stressful conditions.
- Experience improving processes and workflows for greater efficiency.
- Ability to set priorities, coordinate multiple tasks, and maintain workflow control.
Supervision Provided by this Position
- There are no lead or supervisory responsibilities attached to this job.
Physical Demands
- Occasional travel to other facilities and physician offices.
- Ability to focus for extended periods requiring concentration and technical attention to detail.
- Physical activities may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Good balance and coordination required.
- Light work – ability to exert up to 25 lbs of force occasionally and/or 10 lbs frequently.
- Close visual acuity needed for data analysis, transcription, computer use, and extensive reading.
- Work performed in a general office or administrative environment with no substantial exposure to adverse conditions.
