What To Expect

Tesla is looking for an experienced litigation attorney to join our employment law team. The Sr. Counsel, Employment Litigation will represent and defend Tesla in all aspects of employment-related litigation matters.

As a member of Tesla’s fast-paced Legal Department, this attorney will handle primarily single plaintiff employment disputes and related litigation with the assistance of a paralegal. Significant employment litigation and arbitration experience, especially in California, is essential.

What You'll Do

1. Represent and defend Tesla in employment-related litigation, including FEHA, Title VII, disability access, harassment, discrimination, wage and hour claims, wrongful termination, and reductions in force.
2. Respond to complaints, draft and file motions, propound and respond to discovery, prepare witnesses, and represent Tesla in court hearings, mediations, trials, and arbitrations.
3. Negotiate case dismissals or resolutions at various stages of litigation.
4. Stay informed on current laws, regulations, and trends related to California employment and labor laws.
5. Report proactive legal risk mitigation strategies and ensure Tesla’s compliance with applicable laws like FLSA, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FEHA, OFCCP, etc.

What You'll Bring

1. California-licensed attorney with 7+ years of litigation experience in state and federal courts. California Bar Admission is required.
2. Experience in employment defense litigation, including case assessment, strategy, discovery, motions, mediation, arbitration, and trials.
3. Entrepreneurial mindset, ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
4. Quick learner, adaptable, open-minded, and comfortable with ambiguity and risk.
5. Strong relationship-building skills, high integrity, good judgment, and analytical skills.
