TechniBlend is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This role is responsible for the design and specification of the electrical and controls systems on TechniBlend projects and initiatives.

The Senior Controls Engineer employs analytical and problem-solving skills to assist in the design of comprehensive electrical controls systems for automated food & beverage processing & blending equipment. The role includes designing control panels and field devices, creating schematics, and programming PLC, HMI, and VFDs in accordance with industry and client guidelines. The position reports to the Director Of Engineering and is located in our Waukesha, WI office.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Design, implement, and support PLC and HMI control systems for food & beverage processing & blending equipment.
  2. Detail electrical schematics, Bill of Materials, process flow diagrams, panel layouts, termination diagrams, and field wiring pull schedules in accordance with NEC, NFPA, and UL specifications.
  3. Prepare supporting documentation including functional narratives, manuals, performance metrics, and startup procedures.
  4. Perform in-house functional testing, customer functional acceptance testing, and onsite testing at customer facilities, including up to 25% travel (primarily North America with some international). This includes training maintenance and operations personnel.
  5. Collaborate with engineering teams and support production and service personnel.
  6. Develop a functional understanding of our products, systems, and solutions.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to control systems, independently and collaboratively.
  8. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  9. Participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or similar.
  2. Minimum 5+ years of experience in control systems engineering, preferably in food and beverage processing industry.
  3. Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) and HMI development (Allen-Bradley, Ignition, or similar).
  4. Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, IO Link, Asi, etc.
  5. Strong understanding of control system theory, including PID control, motion control, and feedback mechanisms.
  6. Hands-on hardware/software integration and troubleshooting experience.
  7. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  8. Familiarity with regulatory standards like NEC, NFPA, ANSI, UL508A.
  9. Ability to travel up to 25%, mainly in North America and some international.
