At Nationwide, "on your side" goes beyond just words. Our customers are at the center of everything we do, and we're looking for associates who are passionate about delivering extraordinary care.

Nationwide User Experience (UX) is hiring a senior product design lead on the Property & Casualty design team.

As a senior member of the design team, you’ll collaborate with your peers in product management and engineering, sharing responsibility for the team’s success. You will drive design from early feature discovery through concepting, usability testing, delivery, and post-launch care & feeding.

You will balance a rigorous human-centered approach with the ability to make confident decisions and move the product forward in a fast-paced environment. The ability to communicate with stakeholders and influence design solutions that meet user needs and business objectives is critical. As a lead, you will guide and facilitate the work of other designers.

Join our diverse UX team of 80+ professionals from backgrounds like human factors, cultural anthropology, and industrial design. Job Description Summary

Do you excel in at least one core user experience (UX) competency? We are passionate about creating exceptional experiences that impact people's lives and futures. If you understand the value UX provides in achieving strategic objectives and can articulate that value to cross-functional teams and business partners, we want to hear from you!

As a Senior Consultant in the User Experience organization, you’ll be regarded as an expert with the ability to drive the delivery of outstanding customer experiences. Besides expertise in one core UX strength (experience strategy, research, information architecture, interaction design, interface design, front-end development, content strategy, or design operations), you should have a thorough understanding of a couple of others. A deep grasp of the design process and ability to work in ambiguous discovery phases to identify the right problems and deliver desirable products are essential. You’ll also have opportunities to lead project teams, distill complex problems into clear solutions, and encourage best practices. You are a visionary and will need to articulate and defend design decisions clearly.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Consult and collaborate with stakeholders, product managers, technologists, UX peers, and others across the company to provide strategic, creative, and technical direction.
  2. Advocate for empathetic, human-centered design. Help mitigate risk by pursuing work based on insights and understanding of users.
  3. Problem solve, think big, influence, and explore divergent ideas while converging on the best solutions iteratively.
  4. Design and recommend innovative multi-platform solutions balancing customer needs, business viability, and technical feasibility.
  5. Participate in idea-generating sessions, evaluating ideas for feasibility, viability, and desirability.
  6. Think strategically, connecting work to the larger picture and considering the end-to-end experience.
  7. Mentor and guide team members to continually improve the quality of work.
  8. Stay abreast of technological advancements and customer interaction expectations.

Additional Responsibilities: May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with comfort speaking publicly and explaining design rationale.
  • Ability to leverage data for informed decision-making and influence cross-functional partners.
  • Independent, self-motivated, and capable of leading all aspects of the design process.
