Job summary

The Role at a Glance

We are seeking a highly analytical and consultative Senior Compensation Consultant to join our Total Rewards team. This role serves as a trusted advisor to business leaders and HR partners, providing expert guidance on broad-based compensation programs, pay decisions, job evaluation, and market competitiveness to ensure alignment with strategic financial objectives and desired business results. The position is also responsible for administering the annual merit and bonus programs, administering the supporting compensation technologies, and delivering data-driven insights that enable effective compensation decisions.

What You'll Be Doing
Compensation Consulting
  • Provides advice & consultation to HR Business Partners within assigned client group(s) on compensation programs & pay-related issues to ensure all parties have a full understanding of the organization's compensation strategies & pay philosophy.
  • Provides guidance and recommendations on salary offers, promotions, employee movement, internal equity, market competitiveness, and other compensation matters.
  • Maintains current knowledge of compensation developments and trends, assesses the impact, and ensures that new trends/developments are appropriately incorporated into compensation initiatives.
Market Analysis and Job Evaluation
  • Conducts analyses to assess internal equity and external market competitiveness of compensation plans to attract and retain key talent recommending design enhancements where necessary.
  • Conducts job evaluations and organizational assessments for new and existing positions, determining appropriate job levels and pay grades based on role scope, responsibilities, internal equity, and market competitiveness.
  • Partners with HR Business Partners and business leaders to develop, review, and maintain job descriptions, ensuring accurate representation of work requirements and alignment with compensation philosophy, job architecture, and organizational objectives.
  • Designs and develops financial models, presentations, and dashboards that support compensation decision making.
  • Participates in compensation surveys and benchmarking activities.
Annual Compensation Planning
  • Administers the annual compensation and bonus planning processes.
  • Performs monthly/quarterly forecasting for the annual bonus plan accrual.
Compensation Programs & Projects
  • Leads or contributes to compensation-related projects, initiatives, and process enhancements that improve operational effectiveness.
  • Manages relationships with compensation vendors, survey providers, and external partners.
  • Ensures compensation programs are compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
What We’re Looking For
  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) (Minimum Required)
  • 5 – 7+ Years of progressively more responsible experience in compensation, total rewards, and/or compensation consulting, including demonstrated solid experience and understanding of compensation practices and processes. (Required)
  • Experience with HRIS, compensation management, and market pricing systems preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel ability required.
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation administration and program execution.
  • Sound knowledge of organizational effectiveness and process improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to present complex ideas in an easy-to-understand form.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of a matrixed organizations.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or other professional certification in compensation is preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and experience in motivating others in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of all areas of compensation (i.e. job evaluation methodologies, market evaluation, incentive plan development, equity compensation) procedures and practices.
