Job summary

TAK Broadband in Columbus, IN is seeking a Sr Construction Manager to lead and manage all aspects of utility construction for telecom projects, overseeing site planning, scheduling, budgeting and resource allocation.

The role requires 12+ years in the field, a Bachelor's in Construction Management or related discipline, OSHA 10 preferred, and proven leadership. Strong communication, safety focus, and flexibility are essential, including evenings and weekends when required.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of total relevant experience in a supervisory/leadership role.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or relevant field of study; or equivalent work experience.
• OSHA 10 certification a plus.
• Knowledge of telecom construction (Coax Splicing, Fiber Splicing, Directional Drilling, map reading).
• Knowledge and experience with aerial and underground construction.
• Experience in estimating, bidding projects and change order preparation.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

The Role

• Lead and manage all aspects of utility construction for various types of telecom projects


• Oversee site planning, scheduling, budgeting and resource allocation


• Supervise and coordinate onsite construction activities, ensure compliance with design specifications, building codes and safety regulations


• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues or risks and implement corrective actions as needed


• Manage relationships with external contractors, vendors and suppliers, ensure alignment with project requirements and company standards


• Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, construction drawings, permits and change orders


• Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, provide regular updates on project status, milestones and budgetary considerations


• Implement and enforce best practices for construction quality control, safety protocol and environmental compliance


• Work a flexible schedule with varied hours; some evenings and weekends as needed

Requirements

• 12+ years of total relevant experience including significant experience in a supervisory/leadership role


• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or relevant field of study; or equivalent work experience


• OSHA 10 certification a plus


• Knowledge and prior work experience in telecom construction industry - Coax Splicing, Fiber Splicing, Directional Drilling, map reading, etc.


• Knowledge and experience with aerial and underground construction


• Practical knowledge of Network operations and associated inventory for both RF and fiber networks


• Experience in estimating, bidding projects and change order preparation


• Problem-solving and like to troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field
