About the Opportunity:
Metrix DCX is partnered with a rapidly growing, well-capitalized hyperscale data center developer and operator is expanding its construction organization in Houston. The company is backed by significant institutional investment and is developing large-scale digital infrastructure campuses designed to support the next generation of technology.
They are seeking a Senior Construction Manager to serve as a key owner-side leader responsible for field execution, contractor oversight, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and overall project delivery.
This is a high-visibility, onsite leadership position working directly with general contractors, EPC partners, trade contractors, design teams, commissioning, project controls, procurement, and internal development leadership.
The Role:
The Senior Construction Manager will act as the owner's primary construction representative in the field, providing hands‑on leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accountability across contractors and project stakeholders while ensuring the project remains aligned with schedule, budget, quality, safety, and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Construction & Field Execution
- Lead day-to-day construction activities across a large-scale hyperscale data center campus.
- Represent the owner in the field and maintain strong relationships with GCs, EPCs, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants.
- Monitor contractor performance, manpower, productivity, logistics, sequencing, quality, and safety.
- Lead field walks, coordination meetings, milestone reviews, and execution planning.
- Identify construction risks early and drive timely resolution.
- Participate in constructability reviews, preconstruction planning, and design coordination.
- Provide leadership through major milestones, commissioning, turnover, and project closeout.
Schedule & Project Controls
- Partner with project controls teams to develop and maintain integrated project schedules.
- Review contractor CPM schedules, P6 updates, look-ahead schedules, recovery plans, and milestone forecasts.
- Monitor critical path activities and identify potential schedule impacts.
- Develop recovery and mitigation strategies with contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure reported progress accurately reflects actual field conditions.
Cost & Commercial Management
- Partner with commercial and project-controls teams on project budgets and forecasts.
- Review change orders, PCOs, contractor pricing, and schedule impacts.
- Validate pay applications and earned progress against the approved schedule of values.
- Maintain visibility into project exposures, contingency, and forecasted final costs.
- Participate in risk management, budget closeout, and lessons-learned activities.
Quality, Safety & Commissioning
- Work closely with EH&S leadership to maintain a strong site safety culture.
- Monitor contractor compliance with project safety requirements.
- Partner with QA/QC teams to minimize deficiencies, rework, and turnover issues.
- Coordinate construction completion with commissioning requirements.
- Support phased turnover, startup readiness, punch-list completion, and operational handover.
Stakeholder Leadership
- Serve as a primary point of contact between the owner, GC/EPC, design team, contractors, utilities, vendors, and internal project teams.
- Participate in executive-level project meetings and provide clear reporting on progress, risks, schedule, and cost.
- Escalate issues proactively while developing practical solutions.
- Maintain accountability across multiple project stakeholders.

Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience delivering large-scale construction projects.
- Previous experience as a Senior Construction Manager, Construction Manager, Owner's Representative, Project Manager, or similar leadership position.
- Hyperscale data center experience strongly preferred.
- Proven experience managing GCs, EPCs, subcontractors, and complex project stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, and commissioning activities.
- Experience with fast-track construction, phased turnover, and commissioning-driven delivery.
- Strong understanding of CPM scheduling and Primavera P6.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and commissioning documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain after joining.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
