Who You Are:

Precision Systems is seeking to hire a Sr Construction Inspector with knowledge and experience of construction standards and practices. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience performing construction inspection within Virginia, including work for VDOT. The Sr Construction Inspector is expected to have all responsibilities noted in the Construction Inspector description, as well as additional responsibilities outlined below.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor contractor operations to ensure compliance with contract terms and specifications on VDOT-related projects.
• Coordinate and direct all phases of construction inspection, especially on projects with extensive traffic control, environmental sensitivities, or requiring significant coordination with property owners, utility companies, or government agencies.
• Schedule and coordinate various construction phases with contractors and agency personnel.
• Review and monitor contractors' plans of operation and advise on violations.
• Conduct field measurements and material testing.
• Maintain comprehensive project records, including diaries, material notebooks, as-built plans, pay quantities, progress schedules, work orders, and estimates.
• Assist in developing work orders and investigating Notices of Intent.
• Evaluate progress schedules and perform work order analysis.
• Serve as Lead Inspector for a team of inspectors when necessary.

Qualifications:

The Sr Construction Inspector should have 7+ years of highway construction inspection experience and meet all TS II-C / Construction Inspector requirements. Additionally, the candidate should have comprehensive knowledge of:

• Roadway, structure, and bridge construction, maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation methods, materials, standards, and specifications.
• VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications, Standards, Construction Manual, and Inspector Manual.
• Relevant VDOT certifications in concrete, pavement, drainage, asphalt, and other inspection areas.
• Environmental, safety, and EEO regulations at state and federal levels.

The candidate should be proficient in:

• Providing technical supervision and leadership.
• Conducting project meetings.
• Applying mathematical and field management principles.
• Effective communication with agency, contractor personnel, and the public.

Certifications must be maintained as per the requirements for Construction Inspectors. Specific certifications required will depend on assigned tasks and will be identified by the Department at that time.

Note: The hourly rate is subject to the maximum listed in the current CEI Classification Hourly Rate Pay Limitations Memorandum.
