Job summary

Amazon's Cross Border team seeks a Senior Compliance Specialist to manage customs clearance and daily operations for cross-border shipments across ocean, air, rail, and truck modes.

You will oversee audits, regulatory inquiries, and the development of SOPs while educating clients on import restrictions and tariffs. A strong background in trade compliance and Excel is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Trade Compliance and/or Supply Chain industry.
  • Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Experience auditing 7501, entry data, PGA.

Responsibilities

  • Review and audit for entry filing, PGA, HTS classification, AD/CV, etc.
  • Develop audit initiatives to measure and resolve compliance risks.
  • Intake regulatory inquiries from CBP and customers.
  • Draft petitions/protests for duty mitigation.
  • Deep dive penalties from CBP and determine root cause/corrective action.
  • Interpret and implement guidance from 19 CFR and Informed Compliance Publications.
  • Submit Duty Drawback entries.
  • Build and maintain SOPs for regulatory changes.
  • Advise clients on import restrictions, tariffs, and other customs-related matters.
  • Ownership of subject matter expertise on requirements and regulatory changes to share with operations teams.

Amazon's Cross Border team is responsible for providing customers a one-stop shop for international transportation service, providing end-to-end supply chain solutions. We are seeking a customer-centric individual who wants to be part of this journey and manage daily operational tasks and customer queries.

A Senior Compliance Specialist owns daily operations for customs clearance on ocean, air, rail, and truck cross-border shipments.

Key job responsibilities
  • Review and audit for entry filing, PGA, HTS classification, AD/CV, etc
  • Develop audit initiatives / mechanisms to measure and resolve compliance risks
  • Intake of regulatory inquiries (28/29, Liquidated Damages, etc) from CBP and customers
  • Work with stakeholders to draft petitions / protests for duty mitigation
  • Deep dive penalties from CBP and determine root cause / corrective action
  • Interpret and implement guidance from 19 CFR and Informed Compliance Publications on behalf of our customers
  • Submit Duty Drawback entries
  • Build and maintain SOPs for new and changes to regulatory requirements
  • Advise and educate clients on import restrictions, tariffs, and other customs-related matters in an introductory fashion
  • Ownership of subject matter expertise on requirements and regulatory changes to share with the operations teams in multiple locations, both origin and destination
Measurement for Success
  • Complete assigned tasks timely and accurately, within KPI
Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience in Trade Compliance and/or Supply Chain industry, i.e. as customs agent/officer, compliance specialist, or customs operations
  • Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
  • Experience with auditing 7501, entry data, PGA, etc
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensed customs broker or recently passed CBLE

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
