Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Sr. Communications Specialist in Peoria, IL to support the Global Service team by translating technical service initiatives into compelling narratives for executives and the enterprise.

You will lead executive communications and shaping internal messages across channels to ensure consistent branding. The role emphasizes collaboration with global teams, managing multiple stakeholders, and delivering timely communications while maintaining confidentiality and handling

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Five+ years of experience in Communications, Public Relations, Executive Communications, or related field.
  • Strong project management skills with multiple stakeholders, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to translate highly technical concepts into meaningful business narratives for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting internal and external communications (executive communications, thought leadership, speaking engagements, media opportunities).
  • Familiarity with generative AI tools and prompting techniques for research, content creation, and communications planning.
  • Experience working with global teams across multiple regions preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and navigate sensitive business information.

Responsibilities

  • Executive Partnership & Communications Advisory – serve as the communications advisor for the Global Service leadership team in Caterpillar’s Product Support & Logistics Division. Develop communication strategies supporting executive priorities and organizational objectives.
  • Internal Communications – collaborate with internal stakeholders, track metrics, create content for employee channels, and ensure messaging and branding consistency across channels.

In this role, you will serve as the primary communications partner for the Global Service team, helping translate complex service technology initiatives into compelling narratives that resonate across the enterprise and beyond. You will play a key role supporting senior leaders and bringing to life the stories behind Caterpillar's dealer service strategy, technical dealer training, and dealer technician recruiting initiatives, helping stakeholders understand the critical role the Global Service team plays in developing the solutions that solve customer challenges. This position requires someone who can quickly understand technical concepts, connect business strategy to outcomes, and create impactful communications that elevate the work of the Global Service team.

What You Will Do

Executive Partnership & Communications Advisory – Serve as the communications advisor for the Global Service leadership team in Caterpillar’s Product Support & Logistics Division. Develop communication strategies that support executive priorities and organizational objectives. Provide counsel on messaging, communication risks, stakeholder considerations, and organizational impact. Manage communication priorities, workflows, timelines, and deliverables across multiple stakeholders.

Internal Communications – Collaborate with internal stakeholders and advise on the suitability of approaches for communication efforts. Track and analyze metrics to measure the effectiveness of internal communications. Create content for employee communication channels; ensuring that messaging and branding are consistent across all channels. Develop and distribute communications materials, such as written communications, presentation materials, etc. to deliver key messages.

What Will Set You Apart
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Five or more years of experience in Communications, Public Relations, Executive Communications, or a related field.

  • Estimates development and distribution costs for alternative internal communication platforms.
  • Organizes and coordinates internal communication functions and meetings.
