Job summary

PACCAR is seeking a Sr. Commodity Manager - Structures Group to negotiate and manage supplier relationships, drive cost and quality improvements, and lead global procurement strategies.

The role requires strong negotiation skills, contract knowledge, and deep supply chain expertise within the automotive/truck sector. Applicants should bring 7+ years of experience, a relevant degree, and the ability to travel for supplier evaluations and opportunities worldwide.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of sourcing, engineering, logistics or related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field required.
• Masters or MBA preferred.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to various levels of management and suppliers.
• Understand contract terms and draft supply contracts.
• Understand cost drivers and their impact on cost.
• Ability to perform market research to identify potential new suppliers.
• Experienced negotiator with favorable results.
• Experience with part purchasing, design, manufacturing, supply chain management and/or commercial truck or automotive experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and ensure supplier compliance to long-term supply and warranty agreements.

• Communicate with suppliers, plant, and division personnel at all management levels.
• Travel to supplier locations to evaluate capabilities and improve manufacturing efficiencies.

Requisition Summary
Negotiate and manage all aspects of PACCAR’s relationship with suppliers, including the commercial/contractual requirements with respect to total cost, technology, quality, delivery, customer service, aftermarket support, and logistics. Sourcing Managers are change agents, focused on delivering the highest value to internal and external customers at the lowest total cost.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

• Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting in improved supply chain performance and enhanced product quality.
• Investigate, evaluate, and implement new technologies, strategic procurement strategies and logistical opportunities.
• Negotiate and assure supplier compliance to long-term supply and warranty agreements.
• Issue formal Requests For Information, Proposals and Quotes (RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs) and analyze responses to make sound commercial judgments and sourcing recommendations
• Collaborate with PACCAR operations worldwide to successfully develop and execute global supply chain and commodity strategies.
• Communicate and conduct meetings and formal presentations with suppliers, plant, and division personnel at all management levels.
• Travel to supplier locations in order to evaluate capabilities, assess production readiness, investigate new opportunities, improve manufacturing efficiencies and resolve chronic supply and quality issues.
• Travel to PACCAR’s operating locations in support of the above activities.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

• 7+ years of work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of sourcing, engineering, logistics or related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field required. Masters or MBA preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form to various levels of management and suppliers.
• Possess a good understanding of fundamental contract terms and be able to draft supply contracts.
• Possess an understanding of cost drivers and how changes in those drivers affect cost.
• Ability to perform market research to identify and evaluate potential new suppliers.
• Experienced negotiator with demonstrated favorable results.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities as well as PC skills (Word, Access & PowerPoint)
• Understanding of aluminum and steel component manufacturing processes a plus
• Understanding of casting and forging processes a plus
• Project Team participation and/or Project Management experience a plus
• Experience with part purchasing, design, manufacturing, supply chain management and/or commercial truck or automotive experience a plus
