Job summary

PACCAR Inc is seeking a Sr. Capital Purchasing Manager - Indirect Purchasing to lead strategic supplier relationships and negotiate complex procurement for capital projects. Responsibilities

  • Manage PACCAR's strategic relationships with capital equipment manufacturers, engineering firms, general contractors, and construction service providers.
  • Lead sourcing, negotiation, and contract administration for capital equipment, facility expansions, and project-related purchases.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, facilities, and project teams to meet commercial and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers throughout design, procurement, and construction phases.
  • Develop and execute bidding strategies, RFQs/RFPs, and supplier selections to maximize value and minimize risk.
  • Negotiate and administer capital equipment purchase agreements, construction agreements, and other project contracts.
  • Establish sourcing strategies to drive supplier performance, quality, and project delivery.

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Manage all aspects of PACCAR's strategic relationships with capital equipment manufacturers, engineering firms, general contractors, and construction service providers.

  • Lead sourcing, negotiation, and contract administration activities for capital equipment acquisitions, facility expansions, construction projects, and infrastructure investments, including supplier identification, qualification, development, and commercial negotiations.

  • Partner with engineering, operations, facilities, and project management teams to ensure commercial and technical requirements are achieved, including equipment reliability, performance, quality, capacity, safety, technology, and total cost of ownership.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams and suppliers during the design, engineering, procurement, and construction phases to support successful project execution and operational readiness.

  • Develop and execute competitive bidding strategies, market tests, RFQs/RFPs, and supplier selection activities to maximize value, minimize risk, and achieve project objectives.

  • Negotiate and administer capital equipment purchase agreements, master construction agreements, engineering services contracts, and other project-related commercial agreements.

  • Establish sourcing strategies that drive supplier performance, improve quality, reduce costs, mitigate risk, and enhance project delivery outcomes.

  • Analyze industry trends, construction markets, and emerging technologies to identify innovative solutions that improve manufacturing operations, facility performance, and project economics.

  • Conduct supplier site visits and travel to PACCAR facilities to monitor project progress, verify supplier capabilities, ensure compliance with contractual obligations, and assess production or construction readiness.

  • Manage contract changes, commercial claims, scope modifications, schedules, and supplier performance throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, legal requirements, safety standards, and procurement best practices while supporting capital investment objectives.

  • Communicate, influence, and deliver formal presentations to suppliers, project teams, executives, and PACCAR leadership at all organizational levels regarding sourcing strategies, project status, commercial risks, and contract outcomes.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field required.7+ years of general work experience

  • 7+ years of purchasing, supply chain, production materials management, sales, or related experience.

  • Experience with associated commodities.

  • Supervisory experience including demonstrated leadership to accomplish corporate objectives.

  • Proven negotiation and strong analytical skills

  • Project Team participation and / or Project Management.

  • Able to travel (domestic and international)


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Master's Degree preferred (e.g.: MS, MBA).

  • International business and best cost country sourcing experience preferred
