Qualifications

  • Current SECRET security clearance is required.
  • Eligible for Top Secret/Specialized Compartmented Information clearance.
  • Near-native reading, writing, speaking and listening at ILR Level 3 in Spanish and English.
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in language education, linguistics, or related discipline.
  • At least 20 years’ experience as a Spanish instructor, 10 of which in a larger faculty or department.
  • Current Tourist Passport valid for more than 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct Spanish language classes across Basic, Intermediate and Advanced levels.
  • Develop and adapt training materials and integrate instructional technology.
  • Administer quizzes and formal assessments and provide feedback.
  • Support diverse learners and adjust teaching methods to individual needs.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and supervisors in team settings.
  • Grade homework and provide corrections as part of daily teaching tasks.
  • Prepare detailed lesson plans aligned with DLIFLC and ILR/ACTFL standards.
  • Use Zoom/Teams/WebEx and other platforms for online teaching and assessment.
  • Complete required faculty development courses, including DLIFLC instructor certifications.

Organize command-sponsored cultural events and familiarization activities.Responsibilities:Classroom Instruction: Plan and conduct Spanish language classes using a variety of teaching techniques to develop students’ listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills.Curriculum Development: Create and adapt training materials, integrate instructional technology, and use online learning resources to support independent study.Assessment & Evaluation: Administer weekly quizzes and formal assessments, provide informal feedback, and conduct monthly written progress reports to supervisors.Student Support: Adjust teaching methods to individual learning styles and professional needs and address any identified learning or performance issues.Collaboration: Work with other instructors in a team-teaching or rotation format and collaborate on program-related matters under the guidance of supervisors.Grading & Correction: Provide special assistance, homework correction, and grading as part of the daily teaching load.Lesson Planning: Prepare detailed lesson plans aligned with DLIFLC’s teaching standards and the ILR/ACTFL proficiency frameworks,Classroom Management: Apply strategies for managing a diverse student body, including student-centered, project-based, and task-based instruction.Technology Integration: Maximize the use of instructional technology and online platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams, WebEx) for teaching and assessment,Professional Development: Complete mandatory faculty development courses, including the Common Faculty Development Instructor Course and the DLIFLC Instructor Certification Course, to meet Army and DLIFLC teaching standards.Qualifications:Required:Current SECRET security clearance. Be eligible for a Top Secret/Specialized Compartmented Information clearance.Possess near-native proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening at Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Level 3 for Spanish and English.
