Job description

  • Primarily operates within the central region SBU.
  • Leads sales activities with small commercial clients.
  • Works with other NFP firms to develop and promote cross-market accounts, gain new accounts, and identify opportunities in an account territory.
  • Stays abreast of current industry trends and how NFP's clients are impacted to help solve specific market challenges.
  • Responsible for making presentations and proposals, securing competitive bids on insurance, re-proposing as necessary, and closing sales.
  • Sells P&C insurance to prospective clients by preparing specifications and marketing strategies for new business. Recommends new and additional coverages and obtains quotes for clients.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with carriers.
  • Uses independent judgment and discretion in placing clients' coverage with market carriers.
  • Negotiates terms and pricing in the best interests of the client. Makes appropriate recommendations to clients regarding all insurance matters.
  • Confer with management on setting and achieving integrated selling targets.
  • Sets a leadership example with the use of technology such as Salesforce and Epic to report actual results.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for company products and services.
  • May provide mentoring and coaching to fellow team members.
  • Frequently makes independent judgments without prior review.

Knowledge, Skills, and / or Abilities :

  • Ability to work independently and anticipate client and team needs.
  • Effective time management and decision-making skills.
  • Diligent follow-up skills.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications.

Education and / or Experience :

  • BA / BS preferred.
  • 3-5 or more years of directly related industry sales experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration :

  • P&C Insurance Broker's license required.

The base salary range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000. The actual salary offered will be determined by factors including experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level, scope of the position, and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
