Job summary

Farnsworth Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer in Illinois to lead planning, design, and management of municipal civil projects, including water, wastewater, and transportation for local and government agencies.

You will develop construction documents, mentor staff, and oversee client relations. Ideal candidates have PE licensure or be actively pursuing it, plus ISO IDOT/MFT project familiarity and floodplain management experience.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of related civil engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or actively seeking licensure.
• Certified Floodplain Manager a plus.
• IDOT, state and local regulatory authorities experience.
• Experience with municipal and private clients.
• Sanitary sewer, water line and storm water design experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and manage municipal civil engineering projects from inception to completion.
• Prepare construction and design documents and plans.
• Collaborate with other Farnsworth Group disciplines and consultants.
• Attend project and staff meetings as needed.
• Communicate planning objectives for current and future projects with clients.
• Prepare project proposals and assist with business development.
• Coordinate with IDOT, IEPA, County, MWRD submittals and approvals.
• Lead and mentor engineers and junior staff.
• Build and manage relationships with clients and agencies.
• Conduct field observations and condition assessments.

Job description

Farnsworth Group is seeking an experienced Sr. Civil Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be focused on the planning, design, and management of various civil engineering projects including water/wastewater/stormwater and transportation projects for local and government agencies.

• Certified Floodplain Manager a plus.
• IDOT – MFT project experience a plus.

What You’ll Do

• Plan, design, complete and manage a variety of municipal and some private owner driven civil engineering projects from inception to completion.
• Prepare and develop construction, design documents and plans.
• Collaborate with other Farnsworth Group disciplines and consultants.
• Occasional project, city staff and board meetings.
• Communicate planning objectives for clients current and future projects.
• Prepare project proposals. Assist with business development efforts and development of projects.
• Interaction with IDOT, IEPA, County, MWRD, and understanding of project submittals.
• Team leader and mentoring younger engineers.
• Manage, support, and build relationships with clients and agencies.
• Conduct project field observation and condition assessments.

What You’ll Need

• Federal, State, local regulatory authorities, IDOT experience.
• Experience working with municipal and private clients.
• IDOT – MFT project experience a plus.
• Sanitary sewer, water line and storm water management design experience a plus.
• AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoPak, SS4, MicroStation or OpenRoads experience.
• Team experience with multiple ongoing projects.
• Contract development skills.
• Construction engineering and observation knowledge

Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.

Illinois Pay Transparency

$110,000—$150,000 USD
