Job summary

X-Bow Systems in Crane, IN is seeking a Sr. Chemical Process Engineer to lead day-to-day energetic chemical manufacturing operations and collaborate with Data/Automation/Controls engineers.

You will optimize safety, environmental compliance, and process efficiency while supporting capital projects and supplier coordination. US Person and secret clearance required; ITAR commitments apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years directly related industry experience.
• Experience collaborating with Data/Automation/Controls engineers.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams of ~5 engineers.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• US Person as defined by ITAR.

Responsibilities

• Operate energetic chemical manufacturing processes daily.
• Work with operators to ensure energetic materials are made safely and per specifications.
• Monitor processes for environmental compliance.
• Provide onsite technical support to operators on key characteristics.
• Collaborate with operators to improve process unit efficiency.
• Troubleshoot production processes to maintain efficiency.
• Conduct safety analyses of equipment.
• Assist with testing, training, startup/shutdown, and maintenance.
• Serve as SME during emergencies/abnormal operations.
• Assist with capital project design work.
• Create procedures and process flow documentation.
• Maintain safety and environmental standards.
• Minimize by-products and waste.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Coordinate timelines and budgets with contractors/vendors.

What You Will Do:

• Responsible for the day-to-day operation of energetic chemical manufacturing processes
• Work directly with operators to ensure that energetic materials are made safely and according to key process and product characteristics
• Monitors systems in the chemical manufacturing process for compliance with environmental regulations
• Provides onsite direct technical support to operators regarding the key characteristics,
• Work closely with operators to seek comments on the efficiency of operations for process unit operation
• Troubleshoots processes in a production facility to keep a process running efficiently
• Conducts safety analyses of new and existing equipment
• Assists in equipment testing, operator training, and plant start-up, shutdown, and maintenance activities
• Assists as unit operations subject matter expert during emergency and abnormal operations
• Assists with design work for capital improvement projects.
• Optimize workflows by creating procedures and process flow documentation
• Maintain safety and environmental standards
• Develop methods to minimize by-products and waste materials in environmentally responsible manner
• Identify opportunities for process improvements: throughput, safety, waste streams, etc.
• Assist in the establishment of timelines and budgets
• Identify and coordinate contractors/vendors to design machinery and other equipment to optimize work processes

Must Have:

• 5+ years directly related industry experience
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with Data/Automation/Controls engineers
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams of ~5 engineers
• Experience with process simulation software and data analysis tools
• Bachelors degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
• Must be a US Persons as defined by § 120.62 of the ITAR
