Job summary

Vizient in Irving, TX seeks a Senior Associate to provide strategic sourcing, contracting, and market intelligence. You will develop category strategies, manage sourcing initiatives, and facilitate supplier negotiations, delivering measurable financial and operational improvements for clients.

The role emphasizes collaboration with clinicians, value analysis leaders, and cross-functional teams, with a focus on AI-enabled research and compliant execution. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or healthcare operations is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with spend, utilization, market, and contract performance data.
  • Ability to build relationships across client and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated AI fluency with independent use of AI tools and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category strategies for assigned product/service areas with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead sourcing initiatives from opportunity identification through implementation.
  • Analyze spend, utilization, supplier, and contract performance to identify savings.
  • Research market conditions, technologies, and supplier capabilities to inform strategies.
  • Collaborate with client sourcing reps, clinicians, and value analysis leaders to identify opportunities to improve value.
  • Prepare and present category insights and recommendations to client committees.
  • Create RFIs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, and analyze proposals for value.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and coordinate contract development/implementation.
  • Monitor supplier performance and contribute to annual objectives.
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance research and productivity while validating outputs.

Summary:

In this role, you will provide strategic sourcing, contracting, market intelligence, and category expertise to support complex category initiatives that drive measurable financial, operational, and quality outcomes for clients. You will serve as a trusted advisor throughout the sourcing lifecycle, using market and spend insights, client collaboration, supplier engagement, and contract expertise to develop and execute category strategies that improve value and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute category strategies for assigned product and service categories in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage sourcing initiatives from opportunity identification through implementation, including sourcing plans, project timelines, client engagement, and implementation activities.
  • Conduct category, market, supplier, utilization, spend, and contract performance analyses to identify savings, optimization opportunities, and strategic recommendations.
  • Research market conditions, emerging technologies, supplier capabilities, and industry trends to inform category strategies and sourcing decisions.
  • Collaborate with client sourcing representatives, clinicians, physicians, value analysis leaders, and operational teams to gather requirements and identify opportunities to improve quality, standardization, service, and cost performance.
  • Facilitate client and project committees through meeting preparation, presentations, documentation, category insights, recommendations, and follow-up activities.
  • Develop RFIs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, and other sourcing event deliverables and analyze supplier proposals to identify financial and operational value.
  • Conduct supplier negotiations, support contract development, and coordinate contract implementation and ongoing supplier management activities.
  • Monitor category and supplier performance and contribute to achievement of annual operational, financial, and category objectives.
  • Leverage approved AI tools to enhance research, analysis, communications, and productivity while validating outputs for accuracy, relevance, and business appropriateness.
Qualifications
  • Relevant degree preferred.
  • 2 or more years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience in strategic sourcing, category management, supply chain, consulting, healthcare operations, contracting, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, or category management activities.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating spend, utilization, supplier, market, and contract performance data.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate across client and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated AI fluency with the ability to independently use AI tools, critically evaluate AI-generated content, identify potential limitations or inaccuracies, and apply appropriate judgment to business recommendations and decisions.
  • Ideal candidate can be located in Oklahoma at our member site or Irving, TX
  • Willingness to travel.
