Job summary

Hoosier Energy, based in Bloomington, Indiana, seeks a senior Financial Analyst to support the capital investment program and the Capital Work Plan. You will deliver analysis, forecasting, and reporting on capital projects, property, and inventory to inform management decisions and Board reporting.

You will develop tools and dashboards to provide timely visibility into project spending, forecasts, and completion status across the portfolio, while ensuring compliance and strong internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and maintains systems, procedures, and reporting to analyze and track capital projects, property records, capitalization, depreciation, budgets, and work plans.
• Provides analytical direction and technical guidance to staff, ensuring timely reporting and coordination with Project Management, Engineering, and Accounting.
• Prepares and delivers internal and external reporting on capital projects, property, and inventory to managers, executives, auditors, lenders, and other stakeholders.
• Consults with project managers, engineers, and peers to understand reporting needs and design reporting solutions for the Capital Work Plan.
• Ensures compliance with GAAP and RUS reporting requirements; maintains internal controls, subsidiary records, and documentation for audits and lenders.
• Researches and implements enhancements to reporting practices and technologies to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Reconciles and maintains inventory accounts and coordinates physical inventory with staff and external auditors.

Develops and maintains the tools, dashboards, and reporting processes needed to provide timely visibility into project spending, forecasts, and completion status across the portfolio.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops, implements, and maintains the systems, procedures, and reporting used to analyze and track capital projects, property records, capitalization, depreciation, capital budgets, and work plans. Continuously improves tools and processes to provide clear visibility into project spending, forecasts, and completion status.
• Provides analytical direction and technical guidance to other staff, ensuring consistent application of standards, timely reporting, and effective coordination with Project Management, Engineering, and Accounting.
• Prepares and delivers internal and external reporting on capital projects, property, and inventory to project managers, executive management, auditors, regulators, lenders, and other stakeholders. Translates project and property data into statistical, financial, and decision-support reporting that informs management and Board decisions.
• Consults with project managers, engineers, and industry peers to understand reporting needs, identify analytical gaps, and design reporting solutions that support the Capital Work Plan.
• Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, industry practices, and RUS reporting requirements related to capital projects, property, and inventory. Establishes and maintains internal controls, subsidiary records, and documentation standards sufficient to support audit, regulatory, and lender reviews.
• Researches, recommends, and implements enhancements to project and property reporting practices and technologies, including evaluating alternatives or expansions to existing systems to improve accuracy, efficiency, and user experience.
• Reconciles and maintains inventory accounts, analyzes and validates obsolete inventory, and coordinates the physical inventory process in partnership with internal staff and external financial auditors, including recommending and processing adjustments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field of study minimum

Experience:

• Five years’ of progressive work experience in corporate or cost accounting minimum
