Summary of Responsibilities

Under limited supervision, the Accountant will support the finance department in managing asset transactions, capital expenditure proposals (CEP), and financial forecasting for projects related to COO. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate tracking of asset movements, including disposals, additions to assets, and transfers into service. The role will also support budget and latest estimate processes, and facilitate audits (internal/external). The role will collaborate with various teams to ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations, and play a key role in managing forecasts and annual budgets.

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or equivalent professional certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial accounting, projects, or asset management. Advanced Technical Skills i.e. Excel
  • SAP, BPC/Hyperion software, PowerBI
  • Financial modeling
  • Experience with reconciling large data files
  • Expert in financials with project investments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 10+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated expertise in project accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and asset management.
  • Experience in managing capital projects and preparing CEPs in accordance with company policies.

Job Details
  • Work Location : Eunice, NM
  • Work Schedule : 9/80 professional work schedule, some nights/weekends may be required
  • Travel Required : 10% of the time or less as required.
  • Security Clearance Requirement : CAA Access and a L or Q level security clearance.
  • Emergency Response Requirements : Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duty may be required; including being on‑call (24/7) during your designated team duty week.
  • Work Environment : Radiological exposure expectations of < 100 mrem/yr. General Office, Plant Production Areas. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets etc.
Primary Functions
Asset Management:
  • Manage the disposal of assets and ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Review monthly Journal Entries (JE), adding to the Assets Under Construction (AUC)
  • Handle of AUC transfer into In‑Service.
  • Review and assess potential impairments on assets and initiate the necessary accounting entries.
  • Create pro forma financials for the assets and the related flows
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Provide detailed financial reports on asset movements and asset‑related expenses to management.
  • Monitor asset performance, ensuring proper classification and summarization of financial transactions.
  • Conduct variance analysis on budget vs. actual results, providing insights into cost management.
  • Monthly reporting – memos, reconciliations, capital reporting, etc.
Capital Expenditure (CEP) Proposal:
  • Review capital expenditure proposals (CEP), ensuring alignment with group policies and procedures and alignment with budget
  • Work closely with project teams to understand capital project needs, ensuring proper documentation and justification.
  • Understand workforce planning leading to the ability to deliver projects.
Forecasting and Budgeting:
  • Participate in the preparation and review of the annual budget and latest estimates (LE) for COO.
  • Forecast financial requirements and provide analysis and interpretation of financial data for capital planning.
  • Ensure financial alignment with AGDP.
Audit Control and Compliance:
  • Review and control all audit‑related processes, ensuring that asset transactions are properly documented for auditing purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal control procedures.
  • Coordinate with auditors during financial reviews, providing necessary PBCs (Prepared by Client) on asset‑related transactions and expenditures
Systems & Reporting:
  • Proficient in using financial reporting systems like SAP, BPC, Hyperion, or other relevant tools to track, analyze, and report on project and asset expenditures.
  • Ensure that financial data is accurately entered into the system and reconciled according to the company's financial controls.
