Sr. Business Manager, Capital One Shopping (Remote-Eligible)

This is your opportunity to join Capital One’s fast-growing consumer app: Capital One Shopping. Within Capital One, the Shopping team is working on a new consumer product that seeks to change the way people buy things online. Our mission is to deliver a best-in-class shopping and savings experience for our millions of customers while driving incremental and sustainable sales for our merchant partners. This role will lead marketing and performance analysis for our Cardholder Offers product.

Cardholder Offers brings the power of Capital One Shopping to card and bank customers. The experience is one of Shopping’s biggest products and its product most connected to the cardholder base. We seek to build the best possible experience for our customers and advertising partners.

This individual will lead a team of analysts and marketers in charge of multiple key components of Cardholder Offers, including marketing enhancements, offer recommendations, optimization for Capital One populations like Venture X, expansion into new marketing channels, and performance monitoring. In addition to coaching analysts, this person will also own a number of key strategic initiatives of their own, including expanding Offers’ marketing across new cardholder email types and driving destination customer experiences for some of Capital One’s most valuable cardholders.

As a Senior Business Analysis Manager at Capital One, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges. You'll team with world-class professionals to develop and test strategies that ultimately impact the bottom line. And you will do it all in a collaborative environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibility, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic leadership: Develop business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demands.

  2. Leadership: Manage and develop 4-5 analysts and marketers while coaching and mentoring associates to develop and retain talent at Capital One.

  3. Product: Develop and implement new product and pricing strategies for various lending products; lead product level modeling/analytics.

  4. Marketing: Lead direct-to-consumer marketing efforts for select products, and strategic intent for products distributed through the retail channel. Build targeted insights to inform the design and development of new customer experiences, as well as breakthrough technology and concepts designed to deliver on new go-to-market strategies.

  5. Credit Risk: Drive step-change improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of future consumer credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis.

  6. Execution: Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements and execute against the product strategy. Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently.

  7. Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including IT, Sales, Operations, Finance, and others to drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and profitability.

  8. Strategic & analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation.

  9. Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: A tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business.

  10. Solid people leadership experience: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team and business partners across the enterprise.

  11. Strong executive communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills.

  12. Clear results orientation: Display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals.

  13. Successful track record of thriving in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. Previous consulting experience is a plus.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in any quantitative field (Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering).
  2. At least 2 years of experience in quantitative analysis.
  3. At least 2 years of experience in qualitative analysis.
  4. At least 1 year of experience in people management.
  5. At least 1 year of experience in project management.
  6. At least 2 years of SQL experience or other relational data manipulation or analysis experience such as Alteryx or advanced Excel with large data sets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master’s Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Engineering.
  2. 5+ years of experience in quantitative analysis.
  3. 5+ years of experience in qualitative analysis.
  4. 2+ years of experience in people management.
  5. 2+ years of experience in product development.
  6. 2+ years of experience in financial modeling.
  7. 2+ years of experience in economic forecasting.
  8. 2+ years of experience in project management.
  9. 3+ years of SQL experience or other relational data manipulation or analysis experience such as Alteryx or advanced Excel with large data sets.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations.

New York, NY: $210,500 - $240,300 for Sr. Business Manager
Remote (Regardless of Location): $175,500 - $200,300 for Sr. Business Manager
McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300 for Sr. Business Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
