Job summary

AI Engineers, Inc. (AIE) is seeking a Sr. Bridge Design Project Manager to join our Design teams in Middletown, CT and New York, NY. You will manage design, reporting, production plans, and estimates on state and municipal bridge projects.

The role requires 10+ years in transportation structures with strong leadership of multi-disciplinary teams and excellent communication. Some travel may be required to support projects in the Northeast.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering; MSCE preferred.
• P.E. License in CT and NY preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of tech and project management experience in design of transportation structures and facilities in the Northeast.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with key transportation clients and industry partners.
• Lead preliminary and final design of bridge structures.
• Provide engineering design services on traditional design-bid-build and design-build bridge projects.
• Grow AI’s local bridge/structural team and establish a robust bridge/structures design practice.
• Identify new project opportunities and lead development of technical proposals.
• Manage a team of structural engineers and mentor early career professionals.
• Provide QA by understanding project goals and client expectations.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, (MSCE preferred)

• Understanding of AASHTO, AREMA and other national and local structural design codes and standards
• Significant experience in the design and management of bridge/structure projects for regional transportation clients

• Provide engineering design services on traditional design-bid-build projects and design-build bridge projects

• Identify new project opportunities and lead the development of technical proposals
• Manage a team of structural engineers and serve as a mentor to the early career professionals
• Provide QA of projects through understanding of the project goals and the client’s expectation

Skills & Abilities

• A self-starter with the ability to form project teams and manage multiple and concurrent projects/assignments
• Strong technical and project management skills with ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex bridge/structures design projects clients in Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region
• Solid background in every facet of bridge projects from condition inspection to concept development, preliminary and final design phases and construction support services
• Must be proficient and have experience in structural analysis and modeling as well as development of final drawings, specifications, and cost estimates
• Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
• Understanding the variety of project delivery methods and direct experience in Design-Build projects
• Ability and willingness to travel to work sites.
• Demonstrated problem-solving, negotiations and decision-making skills.
• Occasional to moderate travel may be required.
