Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL) is seeking a Senior BMS Program Manager in Mountain View, CA to lead engineering design reviews for HVAC building automation systems across client sites. You will work with engineers, technicians and contractors to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement on installation infrastructure and related processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related facilities field with relevant controls experience.
  • Associates degree with additional relevant experience may be considered.
  • 8+ years of experience in facilities HVAC and control systems.
  • Experience with HVAC building automation systems and operating sequences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct design reviews for infrastructure and tenant improvement HVAC controls projects to ensure compliance with standards and stakeholder expectations.
  • Perform technical review of control sequences of operation, program logic, and test plans.
  • Conduct field inspection to verify scope and best practices and identify risks.
  • Coordinate with project teams to resolve deficiencies and maintain schedule.
  • Perform controls program clip-in to transition new control systems onto in-operations servers.
  • Evaluate operating trends and alarms post-clip-in to validate performance.
  • Support mechanical engineering with controls-specific guidance.
  • Identify process deficiencies and implement improvements.
  • Verify internal records via QA/QC.
  • Prepare reports for stakeholders to drive solutions.
  • Represent client on project team to address stakeholder requirements.
  • Recommend new processes and changes to improve processes.
  • Coordinate engineering team resources to meet program needs.
  • Provide SME insights to ensure high-quality value.
  • Demonstrate ownership of projects and drive to closure.
  • Manage projects related to engineering or controls work.

The Sr. BMS Program Manager is responsible for the management and execution of engineering design reviews of HVAC building automation systems across the client portfolio sites, including network topology and architecture, controls strategy and logic, and adherence to client standards and accepted best practices. The BMS Program Manager works with a team of engineers, technicians, and contractors to ensure implementation of best practices and to implement continuous improvement across the installation infrastructure and associated processes in support of projects ranging from individual components, comprehensive tenant improvement and facilities HVAC infrastructure, and new construction projects. This role interacts with all members of the facilities manager organization, including senior management, projects and operations teams, field technicians, and client representatives. Previous experience in the design and commissioning of building management systems for HVAC systems will be beneficial to this role and is highly desired.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct design reviews for infrastructure and tenant improvement HVAC controls projects to ensure compliance with relevant standards, design guidelines, best practices, and stakeholder expectations..
  • Perform technical review of control sequences of operation, program logic, and associated functional performance test plans.
  • Conduct field inspection throughout project implementation to verify compliance with scope and best practices, and to proactively identify implementation risks and deviations from approved design.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure acceptable resolution plans to noted deficiencies and timely completion of these resolutions within the project design and implementation schedule.
  • Perform controls program “clip-in” to transition new control systems onto in-operations servers.
  • Evaluate operating trends, alarms, and other data from the BMS system subsequent to clip-in to validate the performance of control systems is consistent with the design.
  • Support the mechanical engineering team with controls-specific guidance as appropriate.
  • Proactively identify process deficiencies and other issues, and develop and implement improvements.
  • Ensure internal records and databases are verified via ongoing quality assurance/quality control.
  • Prepare and present reports to stakeholders as appropriate to drive effective solutions.
  • Represent client on project team to ensure stakeholder requirements are appropriately addressed and all issues are effectively resolved.
  • Recommend new processes, and changes to existing processes, to demonstrate continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate engineering team resources to meet expectations for various programs and services to stakeholders of the Engineering department.
  • Provide subject matter expertise (SME) within the team and internal stakeholders to ensure holistic and robust analysis with high quality and clear value to the client and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned projects, tasks, and initiatives to drive solutions to closure.
  • Perform project management of projects associated with engineering or controls work.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or a related facilities engineering field with relevant controls experience.
  • (Associates degree with additional relevant experience may be considered.)
  • 8+ years of experience in facilities HVAC and control systems
  • Experience with HVAC building automation systems, including development and/or review of operating sequences for equipment and systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple simultaneous projects
  • Demonstrated experience in HVAC engineering fundamentals, including trend analysis
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineering and/or Industry certification (i.e. P.E., PMP)
  • Previous experience leading engineering teams, including determining priorities, delegating and assigning work, and managing resources and deliverable deadlines
  • Previous experience in design, commissioning and operational support of HVAC systems.
  • Previous experience with building management systems (BMS), including logic/programming, points configuration, alarming and trending.
  • Automated Logic Controls (ALC) preferred.

Estimated compensation for this position: 145,300.00 – 191,080.00 USD per year
