Qualifications

  • Knowledge of HIPAA, benefits laws, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct benefits presentations for new hires and open enrollment; field questions from staff and retirees.
  • Perform data quality checks and provide data entry and audit support; track and report metrics.
  • Review 401(k) deferrals and maintain retirement records.
  • Oversee compliance and reporting activities including audits, Form 5500s, and related duties.
  • Manage benefit vendor invoices, monthly expense closing, and cost reporting with broker/finance.
  • Assist with setup of benefit plans in HR systems like UKG/BSwift and administer leave programs.

The Doe Run Company is currently seeking a Sr Benefits Analyst to administer benefit communications, eligibility, reporting, billing, and compliance (including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and retirement plans). This position is based out of our Corporate Office in St. Louis, MO.

Based in St. Louis, Missouri, The Doe Run Company is a privately held natural resources company and one of the largest lead producers in the Western Hemisphere. Dedicated to environmentally responsible mineral and metal production, Doe Run has facilities in Missouri, Washington, and Arizona and operates one of the world's largest, single-site lead recycling facilities, located in Boss, MO. This position offers a competitive base pay and is eligible for the Company variable pay (bonus) plan. Benefits start on the first day and include insurance, paid time off, and various customer discount programs.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field, preferred.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in benefits or human resources, of which at least 3 years are directing and supporting employee benefit programs.

  • May consider high school diploma (or equivalent) and equivalent experience in human resources.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG), or other HR
    Systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail- and results-oriented.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey information and provide assistance to employees and retirees.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
  • Knowledge of laws related to benefits, confidentiality, and Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct benefit presentations for new hires and open enrollment. Field questions from division human resources staff, employees, and retirees regarding benefits claims and issues.
  • Perform quality checks of benefits-related data and provide data entry & audit support as is necessary. Conduct scheduled and ad hoc data tracking and reporting as needed (examples include, but are not limited to GRI, AAP, accrual calculations, etc.).
  • Reviews 401(k) deferral loan transactions and maintains retirement records.
  • Responsible for compliance and reporting activities, including the annual audits, ADP testing, PCORI fee, Form 5500s, and other duties pertaining to compliance and reporting as required.
  • Oversee the benefit vendor invoice process, complete monthly benefit expense closing, and work with the broker and finance to provide regular benefits cost reporting.
  • Assist with the set-up and administration of benefit plans in BSwift and UKG.
  • Assist with administering the employee leave program, including interacting with employees on leave requests.
  • Assist in the annual base pay and variable pay process, including salary survey participation, annual merit process, and hourly rate tables.
  • Completes tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Environmental Conditions, Physical & Lifting Requirements:
  • Computer, tablet, phone, 10-key keyboard, scanner, printers, and other office technology.
  • Regularly exposed to office noises in a standard office setting.
  • Regularly sitting and repetitive wrist and/or finger movement. Frequently talking, hearing. Occasionally standing & walking. Clarity of vision is required at 20 inches or less and at 20 feet or more with the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Frequently required to expend concentrated attention.
  • Rarely required to lift up to 15 pounds of boxes for open enrollment or mailings management.
