About the Role
This role owns automated testing end to end — designing the frameworks, writing the scripts, running the suites, and interpreting what the results actually mean. You will build the automation that lets an iterative development program move quickly without shipping regressions, and you will be the person who can tell the difference between a real defect and a flaky test. The work sits inside a secure environment with real compliance requirements, so the testing discipline has to hold up to scrutiny as well as to schedule pressure.
What You Will Do
- Design and execute automated system testing across the program's applications and infrastructure.
- Build and maintain test automation frameworks appropriate to the problem — linear, modular, data driven, or behavior driven.
- Develop and maintain test scripts in Selenium, Cucumber, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, and Groovy within Jenkins pipelines.
- Run both load and functional testing, and analyze results to distinguish genuine defects from environmental noise.
- Decompose testing work accurately into Jira stories and deliver within Agile practices.
- Apply the customer's security requirements throughout the test environment and test data handling.
- Hold a total system perspective across cloud and hybrid services, infrastructure, and security domains — understanding the relationships and dependencies among them and how they affect test coverage.
- Produce technical documentation others can execute against.
Required Qualifications
Certification and background
- DoDD 8140 compliance. Security+ CE certification at minimum, held at time of hire.
- 10+ years designing and executing automated system testing.
- Bachelor's degree. [Note: your other reqs on this program specify a STEM field and allow a master's. Confirm whether the difference here is intentional.]
Test automation — the core of the role
- Demonstrated expertise as a Test Automation Engineer delivering projects of similar scope.
- Selenium, Cucumber, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, and Groovy (Jenkins).
- Expertise across linear, modular, data driven, and behavior driven test automation frameworks.
- Load versus functional testing. A working understanding of the distinction, and demonstrated ability to analyze test results.
Security and delivery
- Secure environment experience. [Original read \"understanding of all security related requirements in secure environments.\" Name the actual framework — RMF, STIG compliance, a specific accreditation process — so candidates can be screened against something concrete.]
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including accurate decomposition of work into Jira stories.
- Expert troubleshooting and solutioning ability.
- Strong technical documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
- Systems engineering experience with IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management, Teamwork Cloud and Cameo, Microsoft Project, or Tableau.
- Cloud environments beyond the primary platform — Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle, or IBM.
- Familiarity with reviewing and responding to system alerts from visualization tools such as Grafana.
- Working knowledge of ServiceNow.
