Iambic Therapeutics, based in San Diego, seeks a motivated Sr. Associate Scientist to advance synthetic chemistry within the Discovery Chemistry team.

You will execute high-throughput experiments and support library campaigns, collaborating across chemistry, biology, AI/ML, and software groups to accelerate programs. Qualifications

• MS degree in Organic Chemistry with 3+ years of experience or BS degree with 5+ years of experience in industry.
• Strong foundation in modern organic synthetic methods.
• Direct experience with High Throughput Chemistry and/or Parallel Synthesis.
• Familiarity with laboratory automation and liquid handling robotics.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey technical results clearly.

Responsibilities

• Execute parallel synthetic chemistry experiments in support of compound library campaigns.
• Refine standard procedures and synthetic methods to ensure high success rate and project impact.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory automation and analytical/purification equipment used in the HTE workflow.
• Collaborate with senior chemists and cross-functional partners to adapt bench-scale routes to automation-friendly, high-throughput processes.
• Record, organize, and analyze experimental and library data; communicate results to project teams.
• Follow established safety protocols and best practices for ELN data recording.

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sr. Associate Scientist to join our Discovery Chemistry team at Iambic Therapeutics in San Diego, CA. In this role, the successful candidate will apply hands-on synthetic chemistry skills to execute high-throughput experiments and support compound library campaigns. Candidates will be leveled based on experience, technical depth, and demonstrated independence. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with broader chemistry, biology, compound management, AI/ML, and software teams across the discovery pipeline, leveraging Iambic's HTE platform to accelerate our programs. This position will be based in our San Diego Headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

Required:

• MS degree in Organic Chemistry with 3+ years of experience or BS in Organic Chemistry with 5+ years of industry experience.
• Strong foundation in modern organic synthetic methods.
• Direct experience with High Throughput Chemistry and/or Parallel Synthesis.
• Familiarity with laboratory automation, liquid handling robotics, and automated analytical/purification systems, and high adaptability to existing technology.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and dynamic research environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly convey technical results to colleagues and cross-functional partners.

Strongly Preferred:

• Prior hands-on experience with Direct-to-Biology (D2B) strategies for drug discovery.
• Familiarity with the principles of medicinal chemistry.
